As the soft mewling of a cat echoed through the quiet room, Cyn's eyes lit up with excitement, her face alight with childlike wonder as she turned to Tessa with a pleading expression.

"Tessa, can we let it in?" she asked eagerly, her voice filled with hope. "Please? I promise I'll take care of it. I'll feed it and play with it every day."

Tessa hesitated, her brow furrowing with uncertainty as she glanced out the window at the stray cat meowing plaintively in the darkness. She knew the risks of taking in a stray animal, especially given Cyn's delicate health condition, but she couldn't deny the longing in her sister's eyes.

"I don't know, Cyn," Tessa said reluctantly, her voice tinged with concern. "Stray cats can carry diseases, and we don't know if this one is friendly or not."

But Cyn just shook her head, her determination unwavering as she pleaded with Tessa to reconsider. "N loved animals," she insisted, her voice filled with conviction. "He would have wanted us to take care of it. Please, Tessa. Please?"

Tessa's heart ached at the mention of N's name, her thoughts drifting back to the brother they had practically lost and the memories they had shared together. N had always been a soft-hearted soul, quick to lend a helping hand to anyone or anything in need. And now, faced with the opportunity to honor his kindness to the one he would do the most for, Tessa found herself unable to refuse.

"All right, Cyn," she relented, her voice softening with affection as she reached out to stroke her sister's hair. "We'll let it in. But just for tonight, okay? We'll see how it goes."

With a squeal of delight, Cyn dashed to the door and flung it open, her eyes shining with excitement as the stray cat darted inside, its tail twitching nervously as it sniffed around the room. Cyn giggled with delight as she knelt down to pet the cat, her fingers tangling in its soft fur as it nuzzled against her hand.

"He's so cute, Tessa," she exclaimed, her face beaming with joy. "I'm gonna call him...Fluffy!"

Tessa chuckled at her sister's enthusiasm, her heart swelling with love as she watched the two of them bond. Despite her initial reservations, she couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and contentment wash over her as she realized that this stray cat had brought a little bit of joy and companionship into their lives.

As they settled in for the night, the stray cat curled up at the foot of Cyn's bed, its gentle purring lulling them both to sleep. And as Tessa watched over her sleeping sister, her heart filled with gratitude for the precious moments they shared together, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness at the memory of N and the secret he had kept from them all those years ago.

"Remember that stray puppy N found? What ever happened to it?" Cyn asked suddenly, her voice breaking the silence of the night.

Once, N tried to keep a secret stray puppy. Tessa found out about the animal and N told her he was only gonna keep it till it got better, since it was sick. But then he fell in love with it and wanted to keep it as a pet for Cyn.

Tessa's breath caught in her throat at the unexpected question, her mind racing as she struggled to find the right words. She knew the truth about what had become of the puppy, but she wasn't sure if now was the right time to tell Cyn the whole story.

"I...I don't know, Cyn," she said quietly, her voice tinged with sadness. "N never told me what happened to it."

But as she glanced down at her sleeping sister, a flicker of guilt gnawed at the edges of her conscience. She knew that keeping secrets from Cyn was only delaying the inevitable, and that sooner or later, the truth would come out.

But for now, as the stray cat purred softly at their feet, Tessa pushed aside her doubts and fears, focusing instead on the warmth and love that surrounded them in the quiet stillness of the night. And as she drifted off to sleep, her heart heavy with the weight of the past and the uncertainty of the future, she vowed to do whatever it took to protect her sister and keep her safe from harm.
