PRESENT TIME.
"OI, COME ON, YOU'RE SUCH A SLOWPOKE, NO WONDER YOU ATE LUNCH ALONE, IF YOU KEEP THAT UP, YOU'LL SOON-"
"SHUT UP!" I yelled back at Taiga who was shouting at me while jogging miles away, watching me as his back faced the road ahead.
"NO, I'M NOT, YOU LOOK SO PATHETIC RUNNING LIKE THAT, WHAT ARE YOU?" He continued. "YOU LOOK LIKE AN UNLOVED CHILD!"
"KOBAYASHI TAIGA, I HOPE YOU TRIP!" I shouted back.
When I couldn't endure the crushing of my heart and lung against my chest, I halted. My body felt heavier and I dropped to the ground, chest heaving as I became greedy of air.
Taiga scuttled next to me and put his hands on his waist in a form of disappointment. "Haven't people ever told you roads are dirty?"
I sharply sat up straight and patted the earth next to me, beckoning him to sit with a smile.
He hesitated. "No."
"Why not?" I asked breathily.
"'Cause you'll hit me."
"No, I'm not."
He obediently sat and I slapped him on the head, his white mullet fluttered as his face rocked downward.
"Ouch!" He yelped. "You said you won't hit me."
I put an arm around his shoulder with another smile. "A reward for doing your job so well."
I had told him to push me forward when I couldn't run anymore and he did his job a little too well.
His scowling quickly changed into a proud one."Of course, I am."
I reclined back, pressing my palms against the ground to support myself, I closed my eyes and let the cold morning air caress my face. When I looked to my side, the horizon behind the iron railing where the sun was slowly diving out of the sea. I turned to look at Taiga, whose eyes sparkled under the warm glow of the summer sun.
"Thanks for running with me, I became really slow." An event from last night immediately flashed in my memory.
Taiga jumped to his feet, full of energy as ever. "Yeah, yeah whatever, we should do this every day."
He stretched his arms and legs before he lent me a hand and pulled me to my feet.
And then he immediately sprinted. "NOW WON'T YOU CATCH ME, YOU VITAMIN DEFICIENT - [REDUCTED] [REDUCTED] [REDUCTED] [REDUCTED]"
