"I'LL PICK YOU UP AT SIX-THIRTY"

"Really?" I asked as we strode through the pub district tunnel, toward the exit.

"Why not?" He replied. "Your Dad has a cafe now, right? I know the place."

I grinned and decided to tease him. "It lowkey sounds like you're taking me on a date."

"Ah, is that so? I do-"

"Hey, hey, stop!" I flayed my arms around before he hurled another wave of rejection. "It's a joke! Okay, it's just a joke..."

He chuckled, his eyes fixed on the road ahead as he spoke sluggishly. "Okay, okay. You're right though, it sounds like so."

"Yes, yes but not a date." I quickly replied.

I expected him to say yes or at least nod but instead, he didn't react at all, only just a smile plastered on his face.

Don't, don't, don't even think about it [name] don't be delusional.

Maybe I should stop consuming too much romcom content.

After we reached the end of the tunnel, under the sunbathing street, we halted and faced each other.

"This is it."

I nodded and slid off the shishitoren's jacket and handed it to him. Togame tucked the jacket between the hook of his arm and next to his chest.

"Thank you, it's comfortable."

He waved. "Well, see you tonight, [Name] then."

I waved back with some uncertainty. Togame, who had turned to his heel midway, noticed this and quickly faced me again with a smile.

"Why? Don't you believe I'll be there?"

"No, it's not like that, I mean, I-I...I don't know." I fumbled, avoiding his gaze.

Togame reached into his pocket and took out his phone. For a moment I thought we were exchanging contact info until he handed it to me.

"Here, take it, and keep it until we meet again."

"What!?" I asked, aghast. "Are you serious?"

"Apparently, I am."

"Togame, you don't have to do this, here take it back!" I tried giving him the phone back but he kept shoving it to me.

"It's fine, I can live a day without my phone."

"But what if something is up? What if someone called?"

"Then you reply to their text or pick up the call for me. If it's anything important, just dial Daigo, the one with long red hair back there, he's on my contact list."
