One sleepless night, Alexander sat in his lab, staring at the time machine. He had abandoned the project after Sophia's death, unable to find the motivation to continue. But now, a new thought began to take shape in his mind.
"What if I could go back?" he whispered to himself. "What if I could save her?"
With renewed determination, Alexander set to work. He poured all his grief and love into the project, working day and night to finish the time machine. He knew it was a long shot, but it was the only hope he had left.
Finally, after months of relentless work, the time machine was ready. Alexander stood before it, his heart pounding with anticipation. He had one chance to go back and change the past, to save Sophia from the accident that had taken her from him.
He activated the machine, the room filling with the familiar hum and flickering lights. As the air shimmered around him, Alexander clutched the remote that controlled the time travel. "I'm coming, Sophia," he whispered, and with a bright flash, he was gone.
