Chapter Seven

Today's the day. My birthday, and my ceremony. I'm super excited, but nervous. Things have been weird at school. Axton and his friends have left me alone, and when one of them tried to pick on me, Axton put a stop to it. It was weird, to say the least.

I take a quick shower, and get changed into jeans and a loose hoodie. It's not cold, but i'm comfortable in my oversized hoodie, always.

Mom and mama are waiting downstairs by the time I come down. They're sitting there with small smiles on their faces. "Ready babe?" Mom asks, looping her arm with mine.

"I guess. A bit nervous honestly "I murmur, and mom nods.

"I was too. But then I met mama, and it was the best thing ever. It'll be good babe" she squeezes my arm, and mama loops her arm with my other one. She holds my arm close to her body, and nods.

"Mom's right, it was the best day of my life" Mama smiles.

"Yeah yeah, true love" I give a little smile.

We drive to the pack house separately, in case I want to go somewhere with my mate. That is if he's there. I take a deep breath when I park my car, and then I climb out. The ceremony awakens your wolf to be able to hone out your wolf. Something to do with the power of the moon goddess. I don't really know.

But it's been done this way for decades, so this is how we do it. I make my way inside my parents by my side. We go to the room all the ceremonies are held in. It's like a big auditorium.

Stepping inside, my wolf instantly perks, and my whole body feels on edge. It's like going up a huge hill on a roller coaster. My stomach is in knots.

I let mama lead, sense she always knows what's going on. I follow her lead, and we pass a bunch of older wolves, and teens.

I spot a couple of girls in line, and then I see Axton. My back stiffens, as mama leads me right to him.

"Hey honey" she smiles at Axton, who returns the gesture.

"Hey Mrs. Carson"

"Alright, we leave you here babe" mama kisses my head, whispering in my ear. "We love you, it'll be fine" and then she pinches my side, mom does the same, kissing my head and leaving. Going to their seats.

I stand behind Axton, swallowing down a deep breath. Axton glances at me. "It'll be alright yano? Are you worried?"

"I'm not talking to you about my feelings" my eyes narrow, and he nods sucking in his bottom lip. He bites it, and nods again.

"I'm nervous. I'm supposed to be mated to Cassidy, but if that's true I won't know for another month" he crosses his arms over his broad chest, and rocks on his heels. "But i don't think we're mates, and that's even scarier"

"I'm sorry" the words flow from me. I couldn't imagine being told someone is my mate, just for them not to be. But I feel like he'd know. He'd have some sort of connection with her. Dear goddess, help me do not let Ford be my mate.

"Thanks"

We don't get to say much, because Alpha Kade is walking to the center of the stage. His voice comes out loud, and strong.

"Good morning guys! I know we're all excited to have our loved ones here today to find their other half. I also want to address some things here and now. We are moving into a new era, a new age. In this age, we are to be accepting, and loving. To everyone. No matter who their mate may be" Alpha Kade's eyes fall to Axton for a second, before addressing the crowd.
