Lily's POV

I fall to the floor and try to roll between his legs, jabbing upwards. Unfortunately for me, Krios anticipates this and lets his celestial sword drop, the blade nearly grazing my side. It wouldn't create a huge injury, but it would eventually kill me. As I step backwards to avoid another blow from my right, his right hand forms a fist and strikes my left side. The force sends me off the edge of the mountain.

I barley have time to try and turn my body in midair to grab onto the ledge as I cry out and squeeze my eyes shut. I know that this is the end. But I can't be dying – the world needs me. Percy might be fighting Kronos up on Olympus, but I need to destroy the titan's base. And the only way to that is if I stay alive, so I pray to my mother to help me. As if my prayers are answered a hand grabs my wrist, and my fall instantly stops. I look up at who caught me, and my eyes meet with electric blue ones.

Jason's POV

I finish the climb up to the peak of Mount Tam with Reyna and the rest of camp Jupiter, and rush ahead to make sure the coast is clear. As praetor, it is my duty to protect the legion as well as lead them to battle. I hide behind a pillar as the rest of the campers follow Reyna up the last climb to the summit. I can see flashes of dark-blue armour – it has to be a titan I just don't know which - and flashes of gold and silver as a girl around my age, she looks like, fights him. Her golden hair blows in the wind, making her look like an angel - what am I thinking? I don't know her. How can I say she's an angel?

While I watch, I see her roll under the titan but nearly get injured in the process. I rush forwards just as she gets pushed off the edge and catch her wrist, my torso hanging off the end. She looks up, breathing heavily, and my eyes lock with her grey eyes that look like a deep silver colour. She looks gorgeous. I hear Reyna shout and come to my senses. I pull her up and flip my coin, the metal stretching, forming my sword, the imperial bronze blade glinting in the light. I look back at her, saying, "I'm Jason. What's your name?"

"My name is Lily," she replies.
