The Lost Hero (Jason Grace x OC)

Chapter 8

Lily's POV

I am running through a forest, from gorgons, when I hear wolves, hunting wolves. I follow the sound into a clearing. In the centre, I see a pool with two spires growing out of it. I step closer and see a cage with someone inside. "Hello, is someone there?"

"Who dares to come here?" I hear someone shout out, and spin around, feeling for my bracelet, not finding it around my wrist. A monster walks out of the forest, too big to be a titan. "Who are you? Why did you bring me here?"

"Because this place, is where your quest will take you. And it will be the place of your death." He says that and lunges forward, his sword in hand. I barely have to dodge it when the blade is plunged into my stomach – "Ahh!" I wake up, and Jason looks at me worried. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. You know the ruins you had a dream in, with the pool and the spires? Well I just had a dream there and there was someone there. But it wasn't a titan they were taller and more dangerous and –"

"Woah, woah, slow down. Tell me what happened."

"There was someone there. And they had a sword, they pushed it into my stomach. They tried to kill me. They said that the place in my dream is where we are going to find Hera, where we'll end up for this quest. And that it will be the place of my death. Jason, what did he mean by that?"

"Calm down. I won't let anything to you, okay? I promised that I'll always be with you, and I will never break that promise. It's going to be –" suddenly Festus jerks to the right and starts falling. Piper wakes up too and we are all screaming. "What do we do? I don't want to die!" Jason flies off Festus' back, catches me by the arm. "Lily I need you to hold on tight okay? I won't let you fall; I just need you to trust me!" I nod and tightly wrap my arms around his torso. He controls the winds and catches Piper and Leo. "Guys, I can't keep this up for much long –" and we drop.

We reach the floor, and me and Piper land on the upper floor. She tries to land on her feet and injures her ankle. I however land on my arm and cry out in pain. I think I might have broken it. "Are you two okay?" I hear Jason ask.

"Yeah I think so. Piper injured her ankle, and I think I've broken my arm."

"Okay, stay where you are. We're on our way up." I carefully push myself up and look around. I notice something on the wall: a poster, faded out, covered in graffiti, a single eye beneath the dirt. There is something in the back of my mind, telling me to run, that something is here, but then I feel Jason's arms wrap around me, squeezing me tight. "Hey, I'm okay, I'm fine. Jason, look at me. I'm okay. Just don't squeeze me that tight. I might have broken my arm, but other than that I'm fine."

He pulls away, and looks at me, "Are you sure you're okay?"

"Jason. I'm fine okay? I promi –" something in the building bangs, making us all freeze. "I'm going to go check it out. Stay here." Jason looks at me and Piper. I notice Leo isn't here, then remember that he went outside to find Festus. "If I'm not back in five minutes –"

"Panic? I'll be fine. Lily, go with him." Piper tells me. "It'll give us both peace of mind that you'll be okay."

"Fine. But if something happens shout, okay?"

"I will. Now go."

With that, me and Jason make our way downstairs, and I suddenly remember the single eye I saw on the poster. "Jason, I have a bad feeling about this." He pulls me into his side, and we hear something behind us. I can smell the monster and realize – "Cyclops. Jason we have to go. Now!" but before we can get back to Piper, or call out, something hits the back of our heads and we fall unconscious, the last thing I see is a bloodshot eye looking down at me.

Time skip to after Leo saves them all

Jason's POV

I wake up and notice we're back in the air, then remember something, "Lily!"

"I'm okay Jason, you can't get rid of me that easily. Besides, Leo saved us all. From what they told me, he built a remote for stuff in the building and killed the cyclops. And he can use fire. That sort of explains why I could sense it in him." I smile at this response.

"Glad you're all okay, but where are we going?" Leo asks and I answer. "Chicago. I kind of had a dream before I woke up." I explain what Hera said, and we all fall silent, until Lily breaks the silence. "If she took away your memories, and sent you to camp half-blood, then something big is going to happen. The person at the pool, that I told you about? I think he was a giant. They came after the titans were defeated the first time. One of them, Porphyrion I think his name is, kidnapped Hera, and that kind of started the war."

"Chiron said something at camp, something about the last chapter. That might have something to do with this. It might mean that –"

"The giants might be trying to come back and start another war with the gods. You're right, I mean, think about it. The titans were defeated, and the giants tried to kill the Olympians centuries ago. Last summer the titans were defeated again, so who's to say the giants won't try to come back again?"

"I don't know. But another thing Hera told me is that demigods and gods have to work together, otherwise the giants can't be killed."

"That'll be hard since they won't talk to us," Leo said. And with that, we all fall silent again, until Leo speaks up. "Welcome to Chicago. Now where?"

"Why don't we follow that storm spirit, see where it goes," Lily suggests, and we all look where she's pointing. "Let's go," I tell Leo, and Festus starts flying after it.
