The Lost Hero (Jason Grace x OC)

Chaper 4

Lily's POV

After Jason and Annabeth my cabin earlier, I didn't fall back asleep. I stayed up, wondering what the prophecy meant by 'Fail without the help of the moon'. It might mean that I have to go with them, but only three can go: Jason and two that he chooses. And we don't know each other well so he would pick Piper and Leo. I don't think my mother, or the hunters will be able to help, because Artemis has been stuck on Olympus with the rest of the Olympians, and the hunters are looking for Percy.

These thoughts continue to swirl through my mind during breakfast, as I keep glancing over to the Zeus table, at Jason. After we all finish eating, Chiron calls us all into the pavilion, and he asks Jason to step forward.

Jason's POV

"Jason, come forward please." I hear Chiron calling for me so, I walk over, feeling everyone's eyes on me. "Who are you taking with you on your quest?"

"Piper, Leo if he finds a ride, and Lily."

As soon as I say that chaos breaks out. Everyone starts talking, shouting, saying that I can't take three, but the prophecy that was given proves that I have to. I need a child of Hephaestus, a child of Aphrodite, and a child of Artemis. I look at Lily, and notice she's already looking at me, shocked, so I walk over to explain. "The prophecy said 'the forge and dove'" she tells me. "Why are you taking me too?"

"Because it also said, 'fail without the help of the moon'," I reply, "which means that we need you with us. I need you with us. You've done quests before; you can help us." She looks at me, her eyes scanning my face.

"Jason I –"

"DRAGON!"

We all turn around and watch as a huge bronze dragon runs out of the forest. They ready their swords or bows and go to attack when – "Wait don't shoot! I come in peace!"

I hear Leo say that and I order them, "Stand down. Leo how did you find this thing?"

"Where did you find it?" someone from the Hephaestus cabin calls out, "And where did the wings come from?"

"I found it, and I found the wings, so I attached them. Now are we going on that quest or are we gonna stay here gawking?"

I turn to look at Lily. "Fine I'll come with you. But only because I owe you my life, and I get the chance to save yours in return."

"Ready to go Piper?" I ask.

"Yeah, let's go."

"One problem Jason," Leo says. "There's only three seats on this thing. And four of us going."

"We'll improvise. I mean it can't be that hard right?" Lily suggests, looking at me. "Leo, is it possible for someone to sit on the back without using a seat?"

"I knew I shouldn't have said anything." Leo laughs. "I guess I could sit on the base of the neck."

"That's one problem solved. Now just to figure out where we are going and how to save Hera. Let's go. Like Lily said, we'll make it up as we go along."
