F I R S T  D A Y  O F  S C H O O L

My alarm went off about an hour ago, and I was getting ready for my first day in my new school. I was already dressed, wearing the clothes that I chose yesterday night, when I was on a phone call with Cara.

I took my school bag from the chair that it was laying on and my phone that was resting on my desk. As I checked my phone, my lips curled up to a smile when I saw the notification from Cooper.

After the party on friday night, Cooper sent me a following request on Instagram and after I accepted it, we started to text. He had quite a lot of pictures posted on his account, nature pictures just like the beach or sunsets, which were honestly very good. He was actually very good in photography

The message he sent was saying that he'll be excited to see me at school, well he wasn't alone with that.

As I got downstairs, breakfast was already waiting for me. I sat down at the table and poured myself a cup of juice in.

My dad came rushing out of the kitchen with a to-go cup of coffee in his right hand.

It wasn't just only my first day, also his, at his new job.

"I have to go now, have a good day at school, sweetie." He said and placed a kiss on my head.

"Thanks, have a great day too," I called after him as he was almost running out of the door.

My mom came out of the kitchen, putting the toast on the table.

"Are you excited for your first day?" She asked as she sat down on the opposite side of me.

"Yeah, but also a bit nervous," I admitted as I took a slice of the bread and started to smear it with strawberry jam.

"Do you need a ride to school?" she offered and also started to eat her breakfast.

"I'm fine," I said as I chewed on my food. "Cara takes me with her," I added after I swallowed.

"Okay, that's good. I'm actually so happy that you already found some friends." Mom said with a bright smile on her face.

I knew that what after happened a year ago, I wasn't the only one who suffered, she did so too. So it was great for us both, that I was finally happy again.

"You know, I'm actually starting to like it here." I admit, at first I was skeptical about moving to another place but now, after I found some good friends, I like my life here.

After I was done with breakfast I said goodbye to my mom and waited in front of the door until Cara would come out of hers.

A few minutes later Cara came out, she waved to me and signed me to come over.

"Hey Gracie," She greeted me and opened the passenger seat door for me.

"Hey," I said with a smile and sat into the car. It was a white Jeep Wrangler, the inside was decorated with shells that were hanging down from the rearview mirror.

Cara got in from the other side of the car. After we were both belted and our backpacks placed on the back seats, Cara started the motor and drove out of our neighborhood.

"Do you know what your first class's going to be?" she asked as she was focused on the street.

"I think english?" I said, I tried to memorize my schedule for today, but that didn't bring anything if I didn't know where the classrooms were, but for that I luckily got Cara.
