I had no other choice than following Jules to see what was going on. It could be a trap, only to lure me over there and then to kill me.
But I wanted to know the truth, and who knows, maybe Jules was in danger and I didn't want to lose another friend.
I knew I couldn't take the car, my parents would've stopped me. So I had to walk instead, even if it would take me a while.
Both of my parents were upstairs now, my perfect time to leave.
I got up and walked through the living room until I reached the door.
I kind of felt bad for not telling my parents, but this here was way more important.
Outside it was already starting to get dark, the stars and the moon were the only thing that brightened the sky.
On the opposite side of me was Cara's house, even that was completely dark. Not a single light to be seen. At first I thought she was asleep, but the weird thing was, her car wasn't here. Maybe her dad was still out, but usually he was home at dinner time to spend time with his only daughter.
While I was walking down our street to get out of our small but rich neighborhood, I started to doubt that Cara and her dad were already asleep. It was un-usual, normally she would stay up until 1 am, watching TV or being on her phone.
She didn't have to do with any of this, right?
She was my best friend, the bestest I've ever had. She wouldn't kill off half of her friend group, right?
Doubts and worries started to appear in my thoughts. I wanted to trust Cara and I wanted to find a logical reason why she wasn't at home and that her car was gone too.
Buried in my thoughts I didn't even notice that a car stopped behind me in the middle of the street.
I looked back to see a gray car, its headlights shining directly into my face, so I wasn't able to see who was behind the wheel.
I started to get a bit frightened, who knows who it could've been. Maybe even the killer, that's why I wanted to just carry on walking, as fast as possible.
"Gracie?" a very familiar voice said. I turned back around to face the car.
His head peaked out of the window, Cooper.
I was relieved that it was only Cooper and not the killer. For him I had no doubts unlike Cara. He had no reason to kill his step-sister and his longtime best friend.
"What are you doing outside at this time?" He asked and finally turned off the headlights so I could actually see him.
I approached his car, stopped right in front of the window.
"I could ask you the same," I said and gave him a slight smile.
"I was on my way to get food," he explained, his eyes fixed on mine.
"So, why are you all alone, walking down that creepy, dark street?" he asked again.
I wasn't sure how I should explain it, maybe he would think I'm too paranoid and that I was worrying way too much about Jules.
"Uhm," I first said, thinking about the right way to explain.
"Jules sent me that weird message, asking me where I was. And when I told her that I was at home she clearly seemed confused,"
