F I R S T - K I L L

It was the next day and I was once again waiting for Cara to drive us to school.

Yesterday's first day of school was actually really nice and I was excited for today to see my new friends again. After the classes were over, they asked me to join them to go to the beach, of course I said yes and spent some fun time with them.

Even though I only know them for one day, they are already the closest friends I ever had. They even put me in their group chat, so I would be involved too.

Finally, Cara came walking out of the house, but something seemed off, normally she always had a smile on, but not today.

"Hey," she said and opened the car so I could get in.

"Hey, everything's okay?" I asked her a little worried as I got into the passenger seat.

"Hmm? Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bit tired." she responded as she also sat into the car.

"Okay, then." I believed her and put on some music.

"Yesterday was so much fun," I finally said after the quietness got a bit too much.

"Yeah, it was. We definitely have to repeat that." she said as she was focused on the street.

After a while we finally got to the school, but something was off.

There were police cars parked all around the school.

"What's going on?" I asked as I looked out of the car window.

"I don't know," Cara said with a confused look on her face.

She parked the car but we stayed in it for a few more moments, observing what was going on.

The officers must've been in the building, none of them were in the parking lot. But I really wondered what could've happened.

As we eventually left the car, I could see Jules running up to us.

"Guys! Guys!" she yelled over the half parking lot as she approached us.

She stopped running when she was only a few meters away from us. She had a worried or even scared look on her face.

"Sarah," she started, breathless.

"Sarah is dead."

I could shiver down my spine, it couldn't be true.

"What?" I could hear myself say through the shock.

"She's dead?" Cara asked again, just to be sure.

At that moment it went so much through my head, I barely knew her and I knew she wasn't liked by my friends, but it was still shocking and unfair that she was dead. She was so young and had so much in front of her. I also thought about Cooper and how sad it must be for him to lose his stepsister, even though he didn't like her much, it must've been still hard for him.

"Yeah, that's why the police are here." she explained to us.

I still couldn't believe that it was real, I just saw her yesterday, and now she is gone.

"It's not official, but it seems like someone killed her." Jules added with the same frightened look on her face.

That means if it's actually true that she got killed, then there's a killer walking around. And that thought freaked me out.

"I've texted Cooper, but he didn't answer yet, which is understandable though."

When we finally calmed down after these shocking news, or at least as much as possible and walked into the building.
