Behind The Scent

After Kyla found the scent, Alex ran over to her. When she was sure everyone had caught up to them, Alex looked at Kyla and nodded. She then took off with her nose to the ground. They all followed quietly, hoping the dragon slayers would pick up the sound. Suddenly, Kyla's ears perked up.

"What is it?" Lucy asked.

"Natsu, do you hear that?" Wendy asked. Natsu nodded. Lucy and Alex wondered what they heard. Alex must have sent her thoughts to Kyla by accident because she gave Alex her advanced hearing. Suddenly, she heard people talking.

"Did you get it?"

"No, some mages got in the way, Master."

"What do you mean?!?" The master said:.

"I was going to get the ooze this morning, but when I went back, there were 7 mages and 2 exceeds."

"Well, what are you waiting for? Go get that ooze! We need it!" The master screamed.

"We need to get back to Erza and Gray," Alex said. Everyone nodded in agreement. They then started heading back towards the others when Alex heard Wendy yell. Alex whipped around to see a man dressed in camo with a hunting knife to Wendy's throat.

"No! Wendy, are you okay?" Lucy asked. Wendy nodded slightly.

"If any of you so much as move, I will slit the child's throat." The man said, "Nod if you agree." They all nodded.

"Excellent. I know you heard our conversation." He said. "Wolf, I know you are a shapeshifter. Now shift back to your original form." With that, Kyla shifted back to her human form. They heard Wendy try to produce a spell.

"Uh-uh! That's not a good idea, little one." The man said, Just then, an idea came to mind.

Kyla Can you use your telepathy to warn Erza or Gray? Alex thought to Kyla.

I can try, Kyla replied. Alex then saw her struggle a bit. When her face relaxed with a look of disappointment, she understood that something was blocking her telepathy.

It's no use. Something's blocking my telepathy, Kyla thought.

Oh, that would be me! The man sent them. Alex looked at him, and he had a smug smile on his face.

"Now, if you want to get through this alive, I suggest you do everything I ask. Got it?" He asked. They all nodded except Wendy, who the man still had a knife to her throat.

"Now, I want all of you to put your hands out in front of you with your wrists together." He said. We all complied. "Shapeshifter, I want you to use your telekinesis to put these cuffs on everyone." Kyla then furrowed her brow with concentration. Slowly, everyone had cuffs but her.

"Sir, I need you to put the cuffs on me. I noticed these cuffs are magic blockers. The minute I get one on, I won't be able to put the other on with my telekinesis." Kyla said. Alex was shocked; she was able to tell they were magic blockers.

"You're correct; they do block your magic." He said. He then looked as if he remembered something. "Oh, and you can call me Kalonus."

"Kalonus!" Kyla said.

"Oh, now you look familiar. Kyla, my dear twin sister. How's the village been?" Kalonus said. Alex looked at Kyla and noticed she looked scared. What's going on? Kyla, better explain.
