After Kalonus said Kyla could go get the "ooze," they came up with a plan. Kyla would leave at dawn tomorrow, and if she was not back by 8 o'clock, he would come looking for her. The only thing is that he would have to take off the cuffs so she could shapeshift into her wolf form. She would also alter her fur color so Team Natsu wouldn't recognize her. Once they had the plan, Kalonus tied them to a tree so they couldn't run away. He then went to bed. The next morning, Kyla thought to herself while Kalonus busied himself with his breakfast.
Kyla didn't want to do this, but if it was for Kal, she felt she had to. Just like they agreed, Kalonus took the cuffs off her, and she shifted into her wolf form. She chose a light color for her fur, so her guild mark was hidden. Alex was still sleeping.
I'm sorry, Alex. I'm only doing this because he's my brother. Kyla thought. She then established a thought link with Kalonus.
Can you hear me? Kyla thought.
Yes. I know how telepathic conversations go, Kalonus said.
I'm just making sure because you're the only person I've had to do this with. Alex and I have always been able to talk telepathically.
Cool. Now go get the stuff my master needs, and so help me, God. If you so much as think of running, I will find you, and I'll let my master whatever he pleases with you. Kyla nodded and headed towards the magic circle.
When she got there, she noticed there were people in the field. They were marveling at how many new crops were growing that weren't before. Kyla quickly hid behind a tree. She then shifted into her human form.
Kalonus? Kyla asked.
I'm here.
There are people here. I'm going to wait until they leave just in case they might see me and report back to the chiefs.
Very well. But we leave at 9am sharp for Twisted Angel.
Kay. Kyla then made herself comfortable in a tree. She saw a squirrel and decided it would be easier to stay hidden if she wasn't her. She then studied the squirrel. She noticed the gray streaked in with the brown. She then took a deep breath and concentrated. She pictured it in her mind, and she heard the shifting of bones. When she opened her eyes, she was at the height of the squirrel. She looked at her "hands" and was happy. She did it; she had a new form.
When Alex woke up, she noticed Kyla wasn't around. She found Kalonus next to his tent.
"G'morning," Alex said. He simply nodded. She then looked at him. She really looked at him. He kind of reminded her of Gray. Her heart ached a little. She wondered how he knew who she was.
"Kalonus, do you mind if I ask you a question?" Alex asked. He looked at her.
"What is your question?"
"How do you know who I am?" Alex was kind of shy.
"Are you saying you don't remember 3 years ago?" Kalonus said. Alex shook her head.
"Well, my master sent me and a bunch of warriors on a mission to retrieve new recruits from my old village. When we got there, we were rounding up the children when you and Kyla came and fought off most of our warriors. I really didn't want to take the children, but we were forced to. Before my master sent me, he told me that there was a possibility you were in the village and that he wanted you alive. When I tried to get you to come with me, you pulled your hell's scythe on me, and we fought. You ended up overpowering me, and I fled." Kalonus said regretting everything.
If you're going to tell her the story, then tell her all of it. Like how you called mom a bitch. Kyla's voice rang in Kalonus's head.
That's irrelevant to her question. Stay out of it, Kalonus said to Kyla.
"So what spell does your master want me to cast?" Alex asked.
"I don't know. He won't tell me." Kalonus lied.
Why are you lying to her? Kyla said.
What do you mean?
I can tell you're lying. It's just something I can do when I'm linked to a person. I can look through their memories, and I can feel what they feel. I know what they know. It's not the same for you, though. So don't even try it.
Stay out of my head. This link is only meant for communication. Kalonus screamed. He then felt Kyla leave his mind. He turned back to Alex to see that she had a satisfied look on her face.
"Thank you, Kalonus," Alex said. "It really helps."
"No problem. To be honest, I've been trying to leave my guild, but the master won't let any of us leave. We're the top guild. Save Tartaros, but nobody can beat that guild." Kalonus said, a laugh escaping his mouth. Just then, the communication's lacrima started to glow. He went over to it and placed it on the table. An image of his master popped up.
"Do you have the ooze, Kalonus?"
"Not yet, Master."
"Well, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??"
"Ky- The shapeshifter went to get it so I wouldn't get caught by her guild. Everything is under control, sir."
"Well, hurry up then. You better be on that train back here WITH BOTH THE OOZE AND THE GIRL!!!!"
"Y-Yes, sir."
The connection cut out, signaling that he had ended the call. Kalonus let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding.
Kyla, How's it going over there?
I'm getting the ooze now, and then I'll be on my way back. Look at the trees for a squirrel with a black mark in the shape of a diamond on its head.
Shortly after that, he saw a squirrel with a black diamond on its head leap from a tree. Alex caught it in her hands. She then placed it on the ground. It then turned into Kyla.
"Kal, could you turn around for a sec?" Kyla said. He did as she asked. When she told him he could turn back around, she had a vial of the ooze in her hand. He was confused as to how she got it, but decided not to ask. He then took it from her and put her cuffs back on. Then he busied himself with getting his camp packed up.
