I hope they choose to stay

If ghosts are real, I wonder what they think
I wonder if they wake in the middle of the night in search of a drink
Or get frustrated about the clog in the sink
I wonder what they think

If ghosts are real, I wonder what they feel
I wonder if they get sad when they miss their favorite meal
Or get angry when the poor man must steal
I wonder what they feel

If ghosts are real, I wonder what they wear
I wonder if they spend hours on their outfit or if they don't care
Or walk around naked, free and bare
I wonder what they wear

If ghosts are real, I wonder how they cope
I wonder if they cry when they feel lost hope
Or are simply determined to not sit and mope
I wonder how they cope

If ghosts are real, I wonder if they know
I wonder if they see us and watch us all grow
Or wipe our tears when we feel down and low
I wonder if they know

If ghosts are real, I hope they don't go away
I hope they come close and choose to stay
And sit on our beds and hear when we pray
I hope they don't go away
