I saw them.
And my world came crashing down
Like ocean waves in a sea storm,
Burning like the blazing embers of a fire.
But I still had hope.
Like in Pandora's box,
My hope was shriveled and frail,
But it was still there.
It smiled up at me,
Telling me it was a mistake.
Something I didn't understand.
An accident.
But accidents can still hurt you.
They can crush your dream,
Run ramped through your heart,
Trampling your hope until it is just a wisp.
But even crushed,
I was strong enough
To hold on to that wisp.
And I held on tight.
