Blue jean jackets,
And hair clips
To sweep the sunshine
Up and over.
White tennis shoes
Against rainbow colored pens
And sundresses printed
With floral patterns.
Gold eyeshadow
And rose-scented lotion,
The backdrop for early morning coffee
In fuzzy coats.
The snowfall
Battled by roaring fires
And warm peach tea
In mermaid shaped cups.
The bright lights
And dusty books,
Still well-read,
Typed on vintage typewriters.
The idea of love
Collected through Jane Austen novels
Read in cozy chairs
And oversized sweaters.
My very own Mr. Darcy
In the form of my German Shepherd
Who radiates warmth
Like the taste of lemonade.
Friendship bracelets
Attached to yellow roses
Following deep conversations
Mixed with just a pinch of gossip.
The feel of the ocean
Described in verses from a book
I don't really believe
Than for slightly angled lines.
Small towns with small diners
Serving fresh watermelon
And food that reminds me
Of the fairgrounds.
Late-night talkshow hosts
Who sometimes spew inspirational quotes
Like the writing of words
For freshly printed sheet music.
Indie tracks,
Songs that touch the soul
Through often tangled earbuds
Like guardian angels.
Cinnamon in pumpkin spice.
Christmas lights followed by cherry pie
And wedding dresses
Admired through a storefront window.
Vintage anything
Like my old car
Or my old grandparent's
Fishing lures and ghost stories.
Believing the unbelievable
Through a cup of mid-day coffee
With my mother
Desperately needed after everything.
Writing words to express
How all of this
Fills me of pure joy
Like my own personal pie
Full of happy.
