Basically a mild version of Meilin vs entity Death.
Tw: Death, loss. (Updated on May 27)< Nobody's POV >
The thought of losing him was more than she could manage with.
Watching that monster steal him away... Seeing his soul fade away... It felt wrong.
He was young. He had life. Why take such a precious thing like that? Why such a good-hearted person? Perhaps, Death had no such shame.
The night she came to his door, there was a sweet irony in it. Death, who had arrived at the doorstep of so many, soon found himself appalled. Because this time, someone had approached Death rather than receive him.
It was a feeling of which there was no way to define. Joyous and yet gut-wrenching all in the same. Inspiring. Fascinating. Even Death, the heartless reaper of the night, soon understood adoration.
When asked why she was here, rather than back where such a beautiful soul such as her belonged, the woman evened nothing but a glare on Death. The words she spoke were eloquent and courteous, despite the rage burning within her.
"Take me instead." She announced, confidence illuminating from her graceful posture and challenging eyes. The sudden request- no, demand- caught Death off guard.
Why was a quaint human such as her facing against the dark entity, void of fear? With unwavering force, rather than a soft plea?
Death, intrigued, asked for a reason. And upon hearing it, the reaper found himself filled with emotion.
Emotion that beings apart from humans weren't meant to feel.
"Because he has the world. Everything that he has ever needed, despite years of nothing." The woman paused a moment, glancing in front of her and into the gates of the afterlife. A warm smile graced her lips. "I've missed him. It's been only a week, and I can barely contain myself still. You must know, oh great one, that I am opposite. Despite a life of accommodation and resource, I came to have nothing. Nothing but him- for he is my world."
Death had never heard greater words- and words were all he did here. Many had yearned to negotiate life back in the past.
Contemplating a moment, he accepted.
Whatever it was about him that brought her so much fulfillment, he seemed to be the air she breathed. Her only thoughts and dreams. He was sky, the stars, the universe. Without him, her life was naked. Death knew that.
Beyond how she truly felt- the woman saw the world they created shrivelling. A world that required someone like him, someone more than she could ever be.
Therefore, the lover once spoke three words. Three words that became her legacy, forever to change Death's perception and solidify the survival of many to come.
He watched at a distance as those three words redeemed him. Yet, each one broke his heart just a tad bit more. It was never meant to be as it became. She was never meant to pay the price.
But she did. For Meilin once said, "Take me instead."
Dude I'm done day 2 of Reilin. Whatttt- Also, I'm very behind in school right now lmao. Wooo, I love having the wrong motivation!!
