I could hear a light knock on my front door. A short while passed before the person crept inside and gently closed the door behind them. The footsteps were light and hurried, excited. I turned over to lay on my side to watch, patiently waiting for this little mouse to come closer. The foot steps turned back, returning to the front door which carefully opened and closed again. Myria was in my chambers, she quickly walked to the door to investigate the noise. The person indecisively standing in front of the door was Torch.

"I'm in the side yard." I used tender whisper, which reached Myria's ear softly. I focused my energy on them and listened to their conversation.

"Are you sure she's not inside?" Torch asked her, sounding disappointed. "I've looked everywhere else, they said she completed the return challenge last night."

"Shhh, don't talk of that. She's always in a bad mood after that stupid tradition." Myria said. "She's in the side yard, she probably knows you're here already. She has good hearing.." Myria trailed off not knowing exactly how I could hear or how far for that matter, but she was aware of some things. She was a smart girl, worthy of being my maid. I could hear Myria's soft footsteps coming closer, Torch followed shortly behind.

They walked around the corner and made their way through the garden, Myria's eyes brightened as she came closer. While I couldn't be considered happy looking, I wasn't full of the agitation that had previously erupted from every glance. Torch looked embarrassed. What there was to be embarrassed about?

"Good morning... Master.. um.. Sin." He looked nervous, what he was going on about? Myria's head bent down slightly as she tried to hide her silent laugh. My eyes raised in response. Just what was going on this early in the morning, the sun was barely in the sky.

"Torch has entered your room with us every day, the only exception was when he followed the assassin group to the capital." Myria sounded proud to announce his actions while I was away. I gently tapped my finger to my temple as I tried to remember what exactly I had told him, oh, that's right. I'd told him to go to my rooms daily until I returned, then I would think of making him an apprentice. It was something that could distract me for the time being, but not yet. I still needed a few days.

"Come closer." I told him, my finger signaled for him to move forward.

"You were hurt again." He blurted out, his eyes widened. "I saw you yesterday when you arrived, covered in blood. But you weren't hurt then, what.." He cut himself short. I'd begun tapping my finger on my temple in an eerie way. I stood up and moved closer to him. Myria held perfectly still, as if disappearing where she stood.

I placed my palms against his chest and looked up into his eyes, searching for.. something. What was it he saw when he looked at me? I knew he didn't have a great sense of smell, not trained in that kind of thing. So what was it...?

"Where am I hurt?" I asked him, while watching for signs of his energy.

"All all over, the injuries aren't life threatening though." He spoke quietly as if afraid to breathe in my face. I could see for the briefest moment a flicker of energy travel through his head. Interesting. He did have some channels open, they were just thin.

"Can you only do this on me? Or anyone?" I asked, curious.

"Only.." He looked embarrassed again. "Only you and Myria, but she doesn't get hurt often." He answered honestly. True, if anyone so much as thought of hurting my maids they'd be dead the instant I found out. Myria's only injuries were accidents she caused herself. I nodded. The energy he used was able to pick up some sort of fluctuation in my body. But why couldn't he use it on others? Not familiar enough with their day to day movements maybe?
