"I'll work hard!" He sounded excited. I couldn't help but smile, confident he would live up to his words. Casting out my senses, I listened as Myria escorted him out, pushing him hurriedly out of the garden lest my mood change suddenly.
From the path above I could feel Angst approaching my gate, just as Myria pushed Torch out. They met abruptly, Angst's eyes flashed in irritation as my smell wafted from Torch. Angst's sense of smell was nearly on par with my own. While I had a better sense of smell pertaining to poisons and medicinal herbs he could be considered better at identifying a person by their scent. Typically remembering them after the first time. I could identify many people by scent, but only when I cared to remember who they were.
"Why do your clothes smell like Sin?" He stopped Torch to ask. Mm while I was away Angst didn't bother to watch my rooms. He'd relied on the fact that I had maids to take care of things and nobody else dared to enter.
"I..." Torch trailed off.
"He came to bring me something and Sin questioned him about his intentions." Myria quickly covered for him. Angst leaned in closer, Myria had no way of knowing that Angst's sense of smell was more advanced than that. He was capable of knowing that the depth of my smell permeated much further than just contact, he'd entered my room repeatedly to reach this level of saturation.
I walked steadily to the door as my body swayed. Still dressed in my night robes, I stretched my arms out to enjoy the morning sun as it moved higher in the sky. Angst waited as I pointedly took my time, he was aware of my approach just as I had sensed his.
Torch stood near the gateway with his back towards me, he apparently thought Angst stood in silence while waiting for a response. Torch looked nervous as the silence continued. I could feel Silver open his door across from us. His living area wasn't surrounded by any barriers, he practiced in plain sight and joined the disciples below to train them.
Angst glared at me as I stepped beside Torch and casually turned around to lean my back on his body, which was perpendicular to my own. My head tilted back against the side of his arm. I let my hand fall to his side, to hold his hand that hung stiffly in front of him.
"You've come to question the men leaving my room now?" I looked at Angst with my eyes raised in question.
"He didn't stay the night." Angst replied, irritated.
"Mm, I only needed him for the morning." I turned my body around. My back was no longer up against Torch's side, I pushed my body near his and placed my cheek on his arm while watching Angst.
"I don't believe you." Angst said flatly, but his hand clenched in anger. Silver, disgusted by the conversation, started to walk away.
"She'll never give you a straight answer." Silver called back as he entered the main path. He turned to walk down towards the disciple's housing. Silver had several personal disciples, Emerald being one of six.
"You'll see us together frequently from now on..." I trailed off while bringing Torch's hand to my face. I rested my cheek in his palm for a moment, his entire body felt clammy. I could feel his flight response encroaching quickly as he nervously looked down at me.
"Myria, see that he's bathed properly, he worked hard for me this morning." I turned away and walked into my room without looking back. So long as Torch could stand on his feet long enough for Angst to leave he'd be okay. Irritated with my conversation and Silver's words, Angst left immediately, likely to kill something. I channeled my senses out again, to make sure Torch made it back safely.
Myria helped him keep his body upright, but even she was shaky from Angst's overwhelming poison. When he was in a normal mood it wasn't noticeable, if he was in a bad mood his blood heated up in anger. The toxins released from his body caused fear to those near him. When his blood spilled, most people would panic, feeling a sense of hysteria. With a sigh I felt both their bodies collapse together not far away.
