"Do you understand ?"

"Yes ma'am" I bobbed my head.

"Any doubt ?"

"No ma'am" I answered immediately. Actually she missed her students so she was lecturing me like a teacher as it helped her to revise the notes easily.

"Good boy" She cooed like I am a five year old boy.

She was getting discharged today and she was thrilled about the idea of leaving this suffocating place. Nurse entered the room and checked her iv.

"We have to remove this"

"What ?" Akshita yelled in horror.

"Why are you scared Akshita ?" I voiced out my concern.

"You don't know it's going to hurt badly. It will be painful" she said eyeing it. Her face testament to the pain she has endured.

"It won't hurt" Nurse tried to convince.

I know it will hurt. When I was admitted last time it's pained so much while removing it" Guilt flared to life in my chest. I wasn't there with her that time as nobody allowed me to be near her.

"But we have to remove it ma'am"

I embraced her in a comforting hug and she glanced at me with fear stricken face.
I smoothed her back trying to comfort her while I was freaking out too.

"You want to go home right ?" She eagerly nodded her head.

"You can't go with this drip. So we have to remove it na" I coaxed her. I was surprised how unknowingly my voice drops to a few decibels while talking to her.

"But--" A tear trailed down her eyes which I instantly wiped off.

"Just a little bit pain then you are free" My thumb stroked her cheek and she blinked.

"Nurse you can proceed"

She hid her face in my chest soaking my shirt with her tears and I hugged her back tightly. My heart ached at the sight of her swollen hand.

It's look painful.

She is already feeling pain due to the swelling and I can't even imagine the pain she would endure when the nurse will detach it. I felt a shiver down my spine and closed my eyes in fear.

I smoothed her back dropping kisses on her hair and she hissed clutching my shirt.

"It's going to be fine" I assured her and also myself.

She let out a sob and I opened my eyes to see that nurse already left. I cradled her face in my palm while she cried like a baby.

"It's done Akshita. See you are so strong I never knew you are this strong. If I would have been in your place then I would have ran away but see you are so strong" I tried to distract her with my talks.
