Author's Note: This is the current story I've been putting out on Ao3 for awhile now. I wanted to try something new and different, and I've been neglecting Wattpad for a decent amount of time. I don't try to, but life is unpredictable. However, all this time away has left my brain coming up with ideas and now I have a good vision for a somewhat original RWBY story. Just like on Ao3, I'm warning you. There is no consistent schedule for updates. I don't know what I was on when I was pumping out chapter after chapter in my Twin Roses story every 2 days.

Aka, when I finish a chapter on Ao3 for this, it also goes here.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The usual typical night in Vale. Teenagers in their cliques, adults or parents leaving work and going home, and criminals hiding around waiting for the perfect time to strike. An unsuspecting single mother, an innocent and defenseless old man, or some stupid kid who can be easily manipulated.

Just the typical day...

I'm heading to the dust shop, From Dust Till Dawn, to return a book I rented out. It was about dust and how to incorporate it into weapons and other things. Signal teaches it, but I want to learn MORE. Uncle Qrow only does so much. I didn't bring my sword Worldshaper with me this time around. I don't quite have a way to make it compact yet, so it sticks out and I almost got banned from the store. The old man who runs the place is understanding at least.

"Hey old man! I got the book back! Just in time!" I say as I go through the entrance, waving the book in my hand.

He...seems distressed but hopefully now at least somewhat satisfied with my return.

"Thank you Reed...you were a minute late, but you've helped me around here so much, I can let it slide..."

He uses my middle name more then my first name. Does anyone do that? That doesn't seem normal. I mean...I'm not the biggest fan of my first name.

Garnet. It sounds like a girl's name. Reed was my Dad's pick for my name but it ended up as my middle name. Maybe my huntsmen's name will be Reed. Garnet doesn't sound like the name of someone you'd be intimidated by.

Almost like comedic timing, a group of men barge into the store with weapons. There's a bunch of them in black and red suits, but the main guy is wearing a bowler hat, has a cane, and is wearing white and black. The orange hair...this guy looks familiar. Have I seen him on the news before?

"Everyone put your hands up!!" Some of them begin yelling to the other customers in the store.

Great...the one time I don't bring Worldshaper, goons come up.

"Alright, step aside kid. We won't be here long. Let me get my dust, then you can continue your reading." The main man says.

He twirls his cane with a smug grin while walking up to the dust dispensers. It IS a dust store, but I could never buy any. Should've brought Yang...

One of the robbers comes up to me and puts the barrel of his gun to the back of my head. A red outline covers my body as I turn into a blur. I turn around, kick him in the side, and watch him fly out the front window of the shop nearly in the blink of an eye. Another guy tries to attack me but I send him out through the same window.

"Oh? A semblance? Kids these days are getting those too quick. Men! Get the brat!!" I hear him order.
