Renae woke up with blood on her face. She looked up and saw the bridge that she was launched off of. Something was definitely broken, she didn't know what though. Slowly, she sat up and checked her extremities. She felt her left wrist and winced. Sprained thankfully. Everything else seemed fine though, which was shocking. She felt her face and felt blood coming out of her right ear.

"Fuck." She said quietly. That's when she knew that her eardrum had been blown. The hearing on her right side was muffled, basically gone. She stood, and immediately looked around for Ellie. Oh god. Oh no. Ellie wasn't here. Neither was Shimmer. She was in a weird crevice area, and didn't know how she was gonna get to where she needed to go. She looked around for a few minutes before finding a weird "MAINTENANCE" door hidden in a dark alley. Her head was pounding at this point, but she pushed forward and looked up the huge stairwell of this building. "I fucking hope this gives me enough of a vantage point at least." She spoke to no one but herself. The process was grueling as with every step her body felt aches like no other. She pushed on and on and after an hour and a half she finally reached the roof. She quickly walked to the edge and kneeled down to catch her breath.

Eventually she looked over the wall and saw the bridge the two were on before, crawling with WLF. She didn't even realize that Shimmer was dead until she watched a WLF soldier grab the pack on the side off of her. "My sweet Shimmer. Rest easy girl. Thank you sincerely and tell Dogmeat I said hi." She wiped a tear that formed and continued to watch them load Shimmer into the back of a truck and drive. Then she decided that she was gonna follow the truck. So she quickly flew down the steps, with a newfound motivation. Thankfully she didn't have to go down as many flights to reach the main floor instead of the maintenance door from before. She slowly opened it and immediately crouched down until she reached the barricade that seperated the highway from the rest of the cityscape.

This is gonna fucking suck. Renae thought as she watched more and more trucks leaving. But then she actually watched where they were going and realized that they were driving to the same place.

An elementary school? It took Renae almost an hour more to find the school, and even longer to find a safe way to get onto the roof. She ended up having to scale a neighboring building and jumping onto the roof. Thankfully she was blessed with the ankles of a god and was okay.

She stealthily bounded the roof, and looked through every skylight she could in the school. Maybe Ellie was being held somewhere? What would I do if she was dead? Renae was feeling panic rise and rise as every skylight had no sign of any Ellie. Until she finally saw her. She quickly ran onto the skylights surface and didn't even think twice before grabbing her pistol and shooting one of the two men inside. Worst part, they shot back- and sent her through the glass. She hit the floor hard and felt the breath sucked out of her lungs. She didn't even have time to think before a man she had never seen was on top of her- or so she thought.

"Renae you really need to listen to some better music." The boy said as he looked at the cassette tape she had in her walkman.

"Shut up Jordan! Avril Lavigne is amazing!" Renae said, snatching it out of Jordan's hands. He scoffed, sitting on her bed.

"Did you ask Adam when you can start training again?" Jordan asked.

Renae shook her head before looking out of the window. "No. I think I'm gonna talk to Nora and maybe see if I can work with her and Mel in the actual hospital part. I don't think I'm gonna be able to work in the field for a while." She replied, instinctively putting a hand onto the mostly healed over wound.
