Chapter 5

"What?" I exclaimed.

"It doesn't open from the inside! That's why I had it propped open, why would you close it?" He yelled at me.

I just stared up at him with wide eyes and started stuttering pathetically.

He blinked a few times, "Sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you," he stated calmly before taking a deep breath.

"I could call Kirstie, she might answer," I suggested, and he nodded before pushing on the door again.

I called Kirstie and hugged onto myself, praying she would answer.

"Hey, what's up Buttercup?" She answered after the fourth ring.

"Hey, uh, I need your help," I murmured.

"What's wrong?" She inquired worriedly.

"Well, I went to Yotally Togurt to pay Scott back for my yogurt from yesterday, and I kind of got us locked in the freezer," I explained sheepishly.

"Oh, Sweetie. I'll be right there, but doesn't the mall close, like, now?" She pointed out frantically.

"There might be other people closing up, please hurry before we die of hypothermia," I pleaded.

"Don't worry, I'll be there in 15 minutes," she promised before the line went dead.

I sighed and put my phone back in my pocket. I glanced at Scott who was pacing back and forth.

"I'm sorry," I murmured.

"Its fine, Kirstie will be here in 15 minutes, and we'll be fine," he pointed out as he continued pacing.

"You seem angry," I pointed out nervously.

"I'm not, I'm just...tired. And now I'm locked in a freezer with someone who hates me," he explained.

"I don't hate you," I chided.

"Well you don't like me either," he pointed out.

"That's not true," I blurted out.

He stopped pacing and narrowed his eyes at me, "So what is it then?" He inquired.

"I'm cold," I blurted out pathetically, "I mean, I know we're in a freezer, but still," I muttered.

Scott exhaled slowly before approaching me, "Here," he instructed before holding out his arms. I shook my head, making him roll his eyes. "You'll probably freeze to death," he commented.

I stared at him more. I was still concerned that he just wanted to take advantage of me. Which was completely understandable, I was pretty attractive.

"I don't know what you've convinced yourself of, but I won't hurt you. I promise," he assured me.

I was very hesitant, but I needed warmth, and he most likely had plenty of body heat. I took a step forward and let him wrap his arms around me.

He was warm, but I was still freezing. He pulled me down with him as he sat down. I crawled into his lap, desperate for warmth. If I wasn't locked in a freezer, I surely would not be cuddling with Scott.

No matter how comfortable and warm he was.

It was barely 10 minutes later, and I was shivering, violently. Scott ran his hands up and down my arms, trying to warm me up, but it was no use. I buried my face into the crook of his neck, but his body heat was gone.
