A/N: Hello my lovelies! A mild rollercoaster chapter, hold on tight.

Chapter 15

Once lunch was over, Braden got up quickly and left. I grabbed my tray and started walking towards the trash can, but was intercepted by Kirstie and Scott.

"Don't," I ordered, already knowing what they were going to say.

"All I was going going to say was if this really means a lot to you, go ahead, but I'll always be here to protect you if things get out of hand. Is that ok?" Scott inquired.

I smiled at him and nodded, "Thanks," I murmured.

"I can't believe you hit him with a pot though. Who are you and what have you done with Mitch?" Kirstie joked.

I chuckled and shrugged cockily.

...

When I got home later, I was forced to lay on my bed, thinking about Scott's "not cliché" way of asking me to Homecoming. He was known to be creative, so I was excited.

Kirstie had suggested several different things, but they all seemed too mediocre, or too big.

Scott was more simplistic with his creativity, so I wasn't expecting some big show or anything. I tried thinking of any possible explanations, but trust me, it ended up being something I wouldn't have guessed.

It was around 5 when the doorbell rang. I was home alone, so I scrambled down the stairs to get the door.

I took a deep breath before opening the door. I blinked a couple of times as I tried to assess the situation before me.

Scott was standing on my porch with a hedgehog.

I tried to think of a reasonable explanation, but I couldn't think of any.

It had a ribbon around its torso with a note on it. Scott didn't say a word, he just extended the adorable little hedgehog out to me.

I reached out and took it, smiling at how cute it was. I detached the ribbon and read the note aloud.

"To my Pokémon Master. I know I promised you a porcupine, but I looked it up and apparently it's illegal to keep a porcupine as a pet, so I picked the next best thing. I thought it would be a nice, cute way of asking you to go to Homecoming with me."

I looked towards Scott who was wearing a dorky smile, "You're so weird," I informed him.

"So will you?" He inquired hopefully.

"Of course I will, you bought me a hedgehog. I mean, I don't have a cage, or any knowledge of how to care for a hedgehog, but still," I replied.

"I got you covered. I went and got this little guy last night, and then I had to get a cage, and food, and other stuff. And then I spent a while looking up hedgehog care. Which is why I didn't get much sleep," he explained, "All of his stuff is in my car," he added.

I held the hedgehog in one hand before hugging Scott with my free arm, "Thank you," I stated excitedly.

"I'll start unloading stuff, you get familiar with...whatever you want to name him," he instructed.

"Wait, we should name it together. He's ours," I suggested.

He shrugged, "Alright," he replied before heading back to his car.

After we had the cage set up, Scott read over the hedgehog care manual, and I took a mental note of it all.

"Ok, he needs a name," I declared as we crouched down and watched him waddle around in the cage.
