Chapter 6

I hummed to myself as I stirred all of the ingredients together in a large pot. I looked towards the stairs as Scott came down.

"What are you doing? You should be resting. You're not gonna get better if you keep walking around," I assured him.

He sniffled and walked to the fridge, "I was just getting some water," he informed me as he grabbed a bottle of water.

"Well, you could've yelled down at me and I would've gotten it for you. Go lay back down," I ordered.

He chuckled, "So oblivious," he murmured.

"What?" I snapped at him.

He smirked and shook his head, "Nothing," he replied before waddling back up the stairs.

I rolled my eyes at his pointless insult before focusing back on the soup.

Once it was done, I located the bowls and spoons before filling a bowl, and grabbing the bag with the cough syrup, vapor rub, and throat spray I'd bought as well.

I went up the stairs slowly before heading towards the open door and walking in. Scott was sitting up in his bed staring down at his phone.

"Soup's done," I informed him before walking over and handing him the bowl, "Eat up," I added before grabbing his desk chair and rolling it over next to his bed.

I sat down before looking in the bag.

"Thank you, Mitch, this is really nice of you," he assured me.

I didn't response since I was focusing on the cough syrup. I pulled off the dispenser cup, and filled it to the 2 tablespoons mark before setting it on his bedside table.

I then set out the throat spray next to it.

"Take these when you're done with your soup. For the spray, spray the back of your throat, simple. And then you'll need them again every 4 hours," I explained simply before setting the box and the bottle down. I pulled out the little tub of vapor rub, "And this gets applied to your chest before you go to sleep. You should try to sleep when you're done eating and you've taken your meds," I suggested before setting it down.

"I'm gonna clean up while you eat," I stated before standing up and leaving his room.

I went back downstairs and cleaned up my mess in the kitchen, before putting the leftover soup in a Tupperware container and putting it in the fridge, so he had more for later.

I grabbed another bottle of water before heading back upstairs. I reentered Scott's room as he finished the cough syrup. His face contorted in disgust before he set the cup down and grabbed the vapor rub.

"Here, I'll do it," I stated as I set the water down and sat on the edge of his bed, grabbing the tub of vapor rub out of his hand.

He gave me a wary look, "You're gonna put vapor rub on my chest?" He inquired skeptically.

"Well, yeah, that's where vapor rub goes. Where else would I put it?" I retorted, "I really think this sickness if affecting your intelligence," I informed him before unscrewing the lid and looking back down at him.

He blinked a few times, "You seriously don't find anything about this situation the least bit...strange in any way?" He interrogated.

"How would it be strange?" I inquired.
