As dawn broke over the valley where the Smiling Critters resided, Bobby Bearhug bounced out of bed.
"It's Valentines Day!" she squealed in joy. "The chance to spread my love to the other Critters!" She immediately got herself ready for the day and headed to DogDay's house, where all the Critters would gather for the day, and see if they got any valentines cards for themselves. Surprisingly, Kickin Chicken often got the most.

DogDay also got out of his bed in his house, having the sunny, strong and determined personality that he almost always had. He wasn't one to waste a day like this, so he simply got ready and waited for the other Critters to arrive.

DogDay also liked Valentines Day, but for a different reason. Unknown to the other Critters, as much as he tried to deny it, he felt strongly attracted to Bobby Bearhug. The way that she loved everyone and everything was just so caring to him, and when she hugged him a few days ago, he felt something between him and her. That was why, every Valentines Day, he tried to figure out a way to express his feelings for Bearhug. Now, he finally had his chance. The night before, he'd volunteered to test out Bubba Bubbaphant's newly built rocket. His plan was to use it to take Bearhug on a trip to the moon and tell her of his true feelings. He had also made her a card himself, but didn't want to reveal it just yet.

Bobby Bearhug arrived first, and a lot earlier than DogDay had expected.
"That was quick!" DogDay said.
"Well, I do love Valentines Day, so you should have expected it!" Bearhug replied.
"Y...yes..." DogDay stuttered, already falling for her all over again. "I guess I should have."

She sat down with him, and one by one the other Critters arrived. Hoppy arrived first, and CatNap arrived last. DogDay expected that, knowing that CatNap's first love was sleeping.
"Are we all ready?" DogDay asked.
The other Critters chorused "Yes!" Well, all but CatNap, who simply dipped his head in a slow nod. He wasn't a big fan of Valentines Day. Since he didn't get many cards, if any, he didn't see the point in turning up.

The cards came through their letterbox, and DogDay got one that said 'Thanks for brightening everyone's day!' Hoppy got one saying 'Follow your dream to hop to the moon!'
CatNap, who was sitting at the back of the room, also got one saying 'Thanks for sending me to sleep. Could have done without the nightmares though.'
CatNap disagreed with the nightmare factor, as he couldn't help that, but the rest was accurate.

Kickin Chicken got one saying 'I love your Lethal Company videos so please make more. I actually bought the game and am going to play it now!'
"Good luck dude! You better be prepared to get scared," Kickin Chicken warned, knowing how scared he and the other Critters were when they played it.

Eventually, the card lookout was over, and everyone had settled down to enjoy the Valentines Day cake that Picky Piggy had made, with decoration assistance from Crafty Corn. They would eventually have the sleepover afterwards. However, Bobby Bearhug, disappointed that she hadn't received a card, excused herself and went up to DogDay's room, just to have some time to herself. DogDay's heart ached in sympathy for the poor Critter, who loved Valentines Day, but hadn't been given any love back.

DogDay went upstairs and found Bearhug on his bed, very despondent.
"Hey Bearhug, what's wrong?" he asked.
"I arrived the earliest, and I didn't get a single card," she replied.
"That may be so," DogDay admitted, "but me and the other Critters love you. By the way, I've got a special treat for you," DogDay added, jumping at his chance. "Follow me."
DogDay quickly told Bubba that he was going to use the rocket, and he gave DogDay the go ahead.

"This is amazing DogDay!" Bearhug said. "I wish we could use it."
"That's the best part!" DogDay exclaimed. "We are going to use it!"
DogDay hit the control panel, Bearhug eagerly following him aboard the rocket, and they zoomed into the sky, then into space. DogDay had taken his card with him, and planned to present it to Bearhug on the moon. Once they landed, DogDay was suddenly cuddled by Bearhug, who squealing "Was this your plan? A trip to the moon?"
"Heh...It was. Shall we put our spacesuits on and go explore?" DogDay asked. Bearhug didn't answer, as her grabbing a spacesuit was proof enough. Stepping out the door, Bearhug almost forgot that there was no gravity on the moon, so she quickly bounced on the moon to avoid floating away. It was almost completely barren, but the actual feeling of being there, along with the innumerable amount of stars and galaxies, alongside the Milky Way was just so beautiful. DogDay understood now why Hoppy wanted to hop to the moon so badly. It was so big and bright from Earth, but was just giant when on it. He made a mental note to ask Hoppy another day.

Eventually, DogDay and Bearhug headed back to the rocket, DogDay knowing that it was nearing nighttime.
Once in though, DogDay remembered the card he'd made for Bearhug.
"Uhhh... Bearhug?" DogDay said, beginning to blush.
"Yes?" Bearhug replied.
"You... did get one card... b... but I... I wanted to save it till after the trip... b... because... it's... from m... me," DogDay stuttered.
"R... Really?" Bearhug answered, stunned that DogDay had done that for her.
"Y...Yeah... and the reason I did it was..." DogDay took a deep breath.
"I love you, Bearhug. To the moon and back, and beyond that. To infinity and back, I guess."
"DogDay!" Bearhug said, and DogDay froze when she wrapped her arms around his torso. She then pressed the two buttons on the sides of his helmet and removed it, exposing a dark red blush even more now, DogDay feeling the heat building up in his whole face. She then removed her own helmet, and moved her arms to his neck and kissed DogDay sweetly on the lips. At first it was brief and shy, since DogDay wasn't expecting her to do that. Then DogDay wrapped his arms around Bearhug's waist and they gave in to a more passionate kiss. Nothing in the world mattered now, and nothing could break this moment or the electrifying feeling of deep love that they felt now.

Eventually, their little lungs gave out and they broke the kiss for air. DogDay flew the rocket back to earth, and landed at the launch base at his house, where it had been before. Bearhug turned to DogDay, and asked"Can I sleep with you during the sleepover?"
"Sure!" DogDay answered a little too enthusiastically.
Everyone else was already asleep, so the new couple crept up to the bedroom DogDay's bed was in. DogDay let Bearhug get in first, so he'd know which side she preferred to sleep on, so he could hug her accordingly.

DogDay yawned and got in alongside her, and they wrapped their arms around each other.
"I love you, Bearhug. I can't wait to spend more time with you, and maybe... if you'd be okay with it... date you?" DogDay said.
"I'll date you if you set up one," Bearhug told him.
"I love you too, DogDay. By the way, is it to the moon and back?"
"Yes..." DogDay quietly chuckled.
"I love you to the moon and back."
They both shared one last kiss before falling asleep in each other's arms.

One-shot is done! Keep an eye out for the next one, which will feature DogDay trying to convince CatNap to turn from the Prototype!
