Thanksgiving

Los Angeles, Ca

After speaking with her grandfather via Facetime she really wasn't in the mood to socialize with anyone. Xavier invited Jashae and Raynell to his home to celebrate Thanksgiving with him and Tahiris family but after her grandmothers death, major holidays always left Jashae in a somber state of mind.

Digging back under her blanket Jashae pondered staying home thinking there was no need to ruin anyone else's holiday spirit. She shot a quick text to Raynell who had been gone all morning asking if she'd cover for her and tell Xavier she wasn't feeling well before drifting off to sleep.

A ringing headache and mild cramps interrupted her peaceful nap That's what I get for lying she thought before crawling out of bed and rushing to the bathroom to find some Tylenol.

Jashae searched every drawer and cabinet in her personal bathroom and checked the closet at the end of the hall but still couldn't find one bottle of painkillers. "Hey siri, Call Ray" the automated voice put the phone call through while Jashae balled in pain on her bed.

"Hey bestie you feeling any better?" Raynell immediately questioned. "No, I feel like shit and I can't find the Tylenol" Jashae groaned out feeling her headache get worse by the minute.

"I think you might've used it all Shay. I thought you were playin you really sound bad I'll stop by a CVS and grab some extra strength Tylenol you need anything else?"

Jashae, now in the bathroom panicked "R-Ray I'm bleeding. Why am I bleeding!?" This was not the way Thanksgiving was supposed to go.

Meanwhile

Xavier's smile faltered at the text he received from Raynell the whole point of having both families in attendance was so everyone could meet Jashae at once. Figuring the sooner she met everyone the more comfortable she'd be and now per Raynells text she wasn't coming at all and she wasn't feeling well.

He wondered why Jashae hadn't reached out herself and text her just to check in.

You ok?

"XAVIER!" his mother, Anita called out catching his attention. "Yeah, I mean yes ma'am"

"I've been calling your name for the last few minutes pass me the blocks of cheese out the fridge please. You ok?" Anita questioned as she stirred a few pots on the stove.

"Well-

"Honey I'm hooooome" Tahiri called from the front door her parents, Alexis and one of her younger siblings following behind her. Even with her back to him Xavier could tell his mother was rolling her eyes hard like Peezy she didn't care for Tahiri but tried to remain cordial for her sons sake.

"Y'all supposed to be married soon and the girl still hasn't cooked you a good meal tuh" Anita muttered loud enough for him to hear. "Ma, it's Thanksgiving don't start please"

Tahiri and the four guest made it to the kitchen the same time Darryl , Xaviers stepfather did. "Hey Mr. Rice you remember by mom Tamika, my stepdad Lamont, Alexis, and my little sister Taniyah right? Oh hey Mrs. Rice it smells so good in here."
