"Get up! Get up, Kili! Kili, there are Goblins!"
Carasdir was shaking Kili vigorously, for he saw Goblins making their way over to them. They needed to go now, or they would get captured. Kili wasn't budging though. Carasdir, got onto his belly, and put his bow up to his cheek. This was perilous, but he knew something had to be done to save Kili. The arrow went flying, and got the Goblins' attention. That's when Carasdir jumped up, and sprinted to the left. The Goblins began to follow Carasdir as he ran left. Kili was still lying on the damp grass.
"Carasdir?" Kili woke up, and nowhere around him was Carasdir. He disappeared. That made Kili anxious, and he stood up; his shoulder throbbing. It was dawn, and birds flew quickly overhead. He wondered if they knew where Carasdir went.
"Yegh! Yegh!" He yelled, trying to get a bird's attention. One flew down to him. It was black with neon orange wings. It squeaked at him.
"Lihtmn cashlop naajl Carasdir... grees freskly cloikas..."
"ifgrt, vefth pufsid memeint..." the bird cooed.
The bird had said that Carasdir was running from Goblins. His speed was decreasing though, and the Goblins were increasing on him. The bird said he went to the east of them. Kili knew he would have to sprint to catch up with him. It was only a matter of time before he would get captured, and that would not be good. Goblins hated elves with a burning passion. They would torture him right away. The bird told Kili that he would not be able to make it in time since he was wounded. Kili got discouraged, and sat down.
"Iuhgt shaillo re donb? (Then what shall I do?)" He asked the bird.
"Eagles," It said.
Kili grinned, and repeated what the bird said. Yes, the eagles could help him. They were even faster than horses. The eagles would get him there in time.
"Hujk farlp nii nbhy. (Call them then.)"
The bird flew away; it was calling them. Kili sat down, and waited. He noticed that Carasdir's bow was gone. If he had it, that was a good thing because he would need it. The Goblins showed no mercy. Carasdir knew how to fight creatures like Goblins, so he would be able to hold them until Kili came. Kili imagined him leaping on top of their heads like Legolas did to the dwarves months ago. Kili sniffled at the memory of him with the dwarves.
"Be a man, stop crying," He whispered to himself. He wiped away his tears, and pushed the memories far back in his brain.
Far off he heard the call of an eagle. They were approaching. He could feel the wind they made by flapping their wings. He put his face towards the west where they were coming from, and breathed in their scent. They smelled of fresh cooked meat. Kili always enjoyed that smell. His mouth began to water. Then he saw them. Two of them to be exact. They soared above his head; one came down, and grabbed Kili with its talons. Then it whipped him into its back. Kili felt alive as they rode in the open sky. He felt the wind through his hair, and he raised his arms. A cheer went out of his mouth, and he began to laugh. He felt free. When he was on the eagles, he felt like he could do anything. They sped above the hills and mountains. Lakes buzzed by. The birds he encountered were left far behind. He wanted to jump off the eagle, and feel how the wind would whip at him. Kili felt crazy, and did that. That's when he realized he didn't have a parachute, or anything to break the fall. The ground was coming closer and closer; he shut his eyes, and imagined that he was at home killing snakes.
