Here is a sneak peek to what is coming up next in the story...
Kili jumped up, and raced down the path towards the tree. Carasdir's eyes widened as he saw Kili hopping over tree roots, and dodging low branches. He stood up from where he was sitting, and ran to meet Kili half way.
Kili was panting; he put his hands on his knees and gasped for air. The urgency in his voice surprised Carasdir.
"We need to head east! Right now! We must go tell Thranduil because I need his army," Kili said.
Carasdir raised an eyebrow at Kili. He did not know what was going on with Kili, nor did he know that his late friend, Condir, had visited Kili. Kili had a begging glint in his eyes. Carasdir didn't like the idea though.
"Kili, I'm not quite sure we should. Why have you come sprinting to me? Did you see the enemy?" That's when Carasdir began to freak out. What if the enemy had found Kili by that lake?
Kili abruptly shook his head before he could freak out too much. Kili pointed to the forest, and then said something that Carasdir laughed at.
"Condir came to me and told me urgent information."
"Condir? And what is this urgent information?" Carasdir chuckled softly. He never thought Kili would go crazy, but at the moment it seemed that way.
"He told me to go east. That is where the creatures are housing Tauriel. There is a valley that is close to a weeping willow. He said that this mission must be started very soon," Kili answered, a serious look coming over his face.
Carasdir was shocked by his serious expression. Maybe Condir had shown himself to Kili. It was very unlikely, but Middle Earth was a magical place. He put his hand on Kili's shoulder.
"I will go speak to Thranduil. I will just leave out the part about Condir, so that it is a little more believable," Carasdir smiled, and patted Kili. "Is that okay with you?"
"Yes, please do hurry."
Kili waited for Carasdir to come back with news. It was hours before he saw a figure approaching him. Carasdir sighed as he sat down; his back against the tree. Kili didn't like his grim face.
"What did Thranduil say?" Kili asked.
"He refused to take anymore part in this battle. We must go ourselves. The elves, dwarves, and men that are still with us can come if they wish," Carasdir muttered. There were only fifty of them. Carasdir shook his head. "When will Thranduil become heroic?"
"That day will probably never come," Kili sighed.
They both lounged under the shade of the tree. A chill breeze slapped their faces, and they began to feel very cold. The sun set, and it was soon dusk. An elf started a fire. The elf took the fire, and wouldn't let any other person sit with him to stay warm. Kili began a fire too, and invited everyone over to it. The fire refreshed him, but there was an aching in his heart. He fell asleep as the fire burned on.
