---------------------------------------------
Kili jolted awake. He felt hot; very hot. As his morning sleepiness washed away, he realized what the hotness was.
"Get up! Everyone get up!" He screeched, rolling around on the ground to try to get the fire off his back.
That didn't help. The fire lit the dry pale grass around him. Everyone around him woke slowly; not realizing yet that they too were lit ablaze with fire. Kili at first tried finding wet grass as the fire burned him, but he couldn't. He didn't know what to do.
Suddenly he thought of an obvious solution. He whipped off his jacket. Furiously, he began to stomp out the fire. It spread though through the grass. And it touched the tree that Carasdir was still propped up against.
Still in a morning state, everyone was getting burned, except Carasdir, but he too would eventually get burned faster than everyone else. Kili began to shout, and tried to take people's coats off.
"WAKE UP!" He screamed. He wasn't the only one who screamed.
Carasdir was lit. Kili cried out as he watched Carasdir being burned before his eyes. His friend was dying, and he could do nothing.
"No!" Kili fell to his knees.
The fire had defeated him..."Kili!"
Kili opened his eyes slightly to see Carasdir hovering over him.
"Huh?" Kili rubbed his head, and suddenly he jumped to his feet. "Fire! Fire!"
Everyone snapped their heads in his direction. They stopped what they were doing, and rushed to his side.
"Where? Where?" They all sounded frightened.
But soon, Kili looked down at where he was standing to find a pile of rocks over ashes. The grass looked a luscious green color still. No fire. No burning. Carasdir was alive standing next to him. Everything was back to the way it had been the day before.
Kili swallowed hard, and eventually let out a laugh. "Got you guys. There's no fire." He grimly looked around again. Still no fire. It was a dream? How could something so real feeling be a dream?
Activities started up again, but Carasdir still looked concerned. Kili just shook his head.
"Peace, peace Carasdir. I just had a dream, so I thought the fire was still here," Kili rubbed his face and let out a sigh. Why was the world so against him? Was he not to be King Under the Mountain? What was wrong with him?
"Kili, Thranduil is planning on returning to his kingdom. He is leaving us to deal with the Kino," Carasdir also looked defeated; done with all this war, all this loss.
"Let him leave, that filthy scum of a king... Carasdir, we still need to go. We must save Tauriel. My love cannot suffer anymore."
"Kili... We can't. It will be impossible with little of us, and we cannot just drop the Rivendell situation which affects more than just you, Kili."
"Carasdir, Tauriel needs me!" Kili spit, enraged that Carasdir wasn't agreeing with him.
"Middle Earth is who needs you! When you're acting more like a king, come talk to me," With that Carasdir turned away and left Kili.
"I will not leave Tauriel to suffer under pain of death."
A Gondor soldier walked up to Kili; concern was etched across his face. He fiddled with his sleeve, and only made eye contact with the King once.
"Your majesty, the Kino are said to have found our location. Shall we not move?"
"Yes, but you and your men must follow me. You are needed."
"Needed to save Rivendell? To save my brother who is being held captive?" The man asked eagerly.
"No," Kili's eyes were glazed over. He had only one thing on his mind, and that was Tauriel. His love was the most important thing. The most important person in the world. The person he would fight to the very end for, but if he waited, and fought the Kino first. He might not make it to her. She might be killed, or it may be him.
"But, lord..." He whispered, and was cut off.
"Get the men ready," Kili snapped; he glanced towards the forest. "Today I will get you back, my love."The company took off at around mid-day. It was stunningly silent. Only the sound of light breathing and horses could be heard.
Everyone had been shocked when they heard that the dwarf king decided to go save his love instead of Rivendell. They got angry, and many wanted to leave to go to Rivendell without the king, but Kili threatened that he would kill every single one of them if they rebelled against him.
So here they all were leaving with the King who they no longer had any respect for. He was going down a path nobody approved of. Only hours ago, he had been a King who everyone adored. He had still wanted to help save Middle Earth, but something in him had cracked. Maybe it was the furious fire in his dream. Maybe he just lost all hope.
"King, up ahead, I spot Kino. And I believe they have spotted us as well. Shall I shoot?" An elf had ridden up beside the king, but the king didn't even glance his way.
"No, let them be."
The elf shook his head and descended back into the company. Kili heard them whispering how he was crazy and deranged. That's when Kili stopped the group.
"Deranged? Certainly, that is not correct. I am a King. And you do not trust me? You must be the crazy ones!" Kili shouted it so loud, that it was clear the Kino had spotted them.
"Foolish King! Now they will bring forth in army much bigger than ours! Are you trying to have us all slaughtered?" The elf hollered.
That's when the arrows began to rain down on them. The first one pierced the rebellious elf right in his chest. He fell over without another word coming out of his lips.
They began to take cover. Most under their horses, but the horses were falling fast.
"Where are these mysterious arrows coming from? From the heavens?!" A man shout out.
"No I see! Up there on that cliff! At least a hundred of the Kino are there!"
Kili growled, and screamed. "Let us go, Kino! Or I will rip each and every one of your heads off!"
But the arrows continued to fall. One by one, people were being skewed by the arrows. Kili covered his ears as the shrieks of men and elves multiplied. His horse was still standing. Kili was still safe.
But not for long...
