The Hobbit is not mine. I don't own the characters. I hope you enjoy my fan fiction

Kili heard a scream pierce the air. He registered it right away, and knew that it was Tauriel. No scream could sound so painful and exotic at the same time. His heart jumped to his throat; the next thing he knew he was slashing at the Orc's head that had been attacking him, and finally killed it. He didn't even stop to catch his breath. He scurried down a narrow path. At that moment he saw an Orc throw Tauriel against the ground. Kili leapt on it from above, and got the Orc in a headlock. That didn't faze it though. The Orc whipped Kili off, and stepped with surprising force on his chest. A burst of air came out of Kili's mouth; he felt immediately light headed. A dagger like object was held above him, and he began to struggle against its foot. After all Kili's been through, this would not be the way he would die, but from the look of it he would be dead in seconds. The Orc was about to impale Kili with its dagger when Tauriel pounced on it, and smacked it on the head. That was enough for the Orc to step away from Kili. Once it stepped away, with the help of Tauriel, he stabbed it in the chest. It fell to the ground, and the light went out of its eyes.

Tauriel was scratched up. Gashes from being thrown against the rocks were forming on her face; Kili sat her down for a second not caring that Orcs were feet away, and tried to bandage the wounds with his clothing. She looked at him with concern, and her hand caressed his face. Kili felt a stab of pain from where her hand was touching.

"You have worse problems," Her voice was like silk to him; so beautiful and pure.

He took her hand, and was shocked to see it smeared in blood. Tauriel ripped some of her green cloak, but he refused to take it. She needed it more than he did was what he thought, yet when she pinned him down on the ground he did not reject any further. She bit her lip in concentration as she took out something from her Quiver. Leaves were in her hand, and Kili raised his eyebrows. Her nimble fingers placed the leaves one by one on his face until Kili could barely see. They smelled strongly of peppermint which was made only by the woodland elves. After she placed all the leaves on, she got off him, and told him to stay put. Kili dared not move as her eyes showed strict knowledge. He felt something trickle down his neck; Tauriel grabbed another leaf and placed it where he had felt the trickle. Kili got impatient, and sat up causing Tauriel to push him right back down.

"What are these?" He asked.

"Peppermint healing leaves. They are for my people... But..." She stopped, and laughed to herself. "You are more important than my people at the moment."

Kili smiled widely at her; then he built enough courage to hug her. It was a passionate hug; seeming to last forever. Then they heard sobbing. A small yet fierce sob; it had to be Bilbo's cry. Kili's hands removed the leaves, and he was up and running in seconds. His cry could only mean two things. That he was dying, or that one of the dwarves was.

Tauriel followed; her feet making no sound against the rocky terrain. While Kili's feet, made a thumping noise that a deaf person could hear. They rounded a corner to see Bilbo crouched over a blood soaked body. When they got closer, Kili stopped dead in his tracks, and his breath turned shallow. It was Thorin who was laying there with blood covering him. In the distance you could see a dead Orc; the Pale Orc. Kili's stomach lurched, and he collapsed so that he wouldn't hurl. Tauriel gracefully walked over to Thorin, and put her head to his blood stained chest. Bilbo shook his head as she said something that he couldn't decipher. His mind was buzzing. Was anyone else dead? Kili only knew Fili was.

Water started to form in Kili's eyes. Before he could wipe them away, Tauriel turned around; worry was etched in her face. He stood up, and backed away slowly. He couldn't bear to look at Thorin any longer. Dead. He was dead.
