☓Chapter 9 (Part 2): Drowned By Hatred☓

The night before, a resident of the kingdom somehow managed to take a photo of their king with the ferocious beast. As he took the photo, he thought to himself "I- I did NOT witness that... Right...?" Before he rubbed his eyes and shook his head. It was indeed real. In shock and in mild disbelief, he ran away with the photo and back into the kingdom, accidentally dropping the photo on the pathway. And leading to many residents learning about what happened that night. It was nearly about to turn morning, Xanthus was sound asleep when suddenly someone knocked on the door. "Coming..." He muttered tired as he got up from his bed and opened the door. It was Doctor Eggman. He didn't look so happy. "Yes Robotnik...?" He asked annoyed that he was pestered at such a late hour. "Hello your highness, it appears we have a bit of a crowd problem..." The doctor told him, making the other confused. "Elaborate?" He asked perplexed. "There's a paparazzi outside the castle." The doctor quickly told him. "Wha-What? How come?" He asked incredibly shocked and confused. "That's the thing! We don't know! You have to get out there to figure out why."
The purple hedgehog rolled his eyes and sighed annoyed, putting on his gloves and boots as he headed out of his room and into the front entrance. He assumed that the big ruckus was probably not that big of a deal as the crowd would make it out to be. That is until he opened the door. Suddenly, multiple people started flooding him with questions all of which sound identical. He backed away from the crowd, his mind warping. "O-One at a time please..." He told them, his hands shaking. "Your highness! Can you please make a statement on whether or not this photo is true?" One of the people asked. "Photo? What photo? Please show me what you mean?" The purple hedgehog asked confused before a person in the crowd showed him a photo. As expected, it was a photo of him and Xenophanes snuggling in the moonlight. His eyes widened and he lowered his ears. "Wh-Where did you get that photo....?" He asked, hands and ears twitching. He knew it wasn't the photo Lord X gave him, since it was a shot at a different angle. It didn't take long for him to grow even more confused. "It was found on the ground. Is this photo true?" A person asked. "It's- Uh- You see...." But just before the purple hedgehog could conjure up a response, a voice was heard. "Huh.... Xan? What's going on? Why are there so many people...?" The crystalline hedgehog appeared, rubbing his eyes as he walked in. "Oh! Uh... Nothing much. Just a very... Peculiar situation I suppose?" The other told him as he turned to look at the crowd. When he turned to look at the crowd however, they all looked at the crystal beast in disgust. "Why are they looking at me like that...?" The beast mumbled as his hand shook. Suddenly, the crowd of people began throwing different items at the beast. Tomatoes, sand bags, and all other kind of things. Immediately surprised and worried, Xanthus attempted to close the door on them, but some of them managed to slip past and drag the beast out of the castle. He lowered his head and covered it with his hands as more items were thrown. "Stop! Stop! All of you!" The purple hedgehog yelled, waving his arms in the air. "The photo is false. It didn't happen. I swear."
That's when metallic footsteps were heard, and Metal Sonic came into the entrance. "What is it Metal?" He asked as the machination took out a photo. Of course, it was the photo the decayed hedgehog gave him. "Wh-Where did you get that...?" He mumbled, his hands twitching and his ears lowered. "He found it in your truck your highness." Loss then told him, appearing in the hallway as he walked towards the front entrance. "I forgot to keep it..." He muttered, covering his mouth as he shuddered. "ITS REAL?!" One person yelled. "Then that means..." Another muttered as they all looked at the slightly injured beast. "OFF WITH HIS HEAD!" They all yelled, charging towards the crystal beast. They began to beat him and scratch him, causing the beast to roar loudly in pain. "GRRR.... RAHHH!" Xenophanes roared loudly, before he slashed at the crowd, injuring some of them. "HUH!? XENO-"
But before Xanthus could process what was happening, the knight charged at the beast, stabbing his chest with his sword. Additionally, Metal Sonic jumped into the field, punching and then electrocuting the beast. The crystalline hedgehog roared loudly as a rope suddenly appeared around his neck and locked his jaw he grunted, growling angrily. He attempted to call out to the purple hedgehog. "Your highness! He's down!" The knight told him, attempting to keep a firm hold of him. "Mm- Mpph- MMMPH!" The beast attempted to call out to his best friend. But as he did, he was electrocuted by the metallic faker instead. He was becoming weaker and weaker by the second, and as he saw his best friend look at him in the eyes....
*SLAM!!!*
He shut the door on him. He couldn't believe it.... How could someone he grew to like as a friend shone him out like this? In a fit of rage and betrayal, he broke free from the rope. Only to escape from the entire kingdom. "GET BACK HERE!!" Loss yelled angrily as the beast fled. As he watched the beast leave, Xanthus peeped through the doorway. "What happened? Where's Xeno?!" He asked frantically. "The beast fled your highness. Don't worry, I'll-"
"No, No, no.... You don't need to hunt him down..." The purple hedgehog told him, waving his hands nervously. "Y-You're joking." The knight asked. "No... I'm serious." The purple hedgehog told him. "BUT WHAT ABOUT-"
"Please stop questioning me.... They're incredibly overwhelming..." The purple hedgehog replied incredibly annoyed. "Ask Robotnik to help out the injured...." He then walked away, his head lowered, as tar trickled down unnoticeably. He went back to his room, lying on his bed as he whipped out the crystal heart and began to cry. "I... Hicc.... Fuck...." He cried, curling into a ball.
Meanwhile, outside the kingdom, Xenophanes had ran away, a bit injured from the beating. He thought about everything that had happened to him. Especially.... Xanthus. He felt so much.. Anger, resentment. He felt so betrayed. The one person he loved deeply, decided not to help him in his hour of need. The crystal cuffs on his gloves suddenly broke, and he started to transform into a very monstrous form. Roaring loudly.
