As the sound of rain droplets pelting towards the ground became louder and louder with each drop, Xanthus closed the windows and curtains to prevent the rain from coming in. He then sat back down and sipped his soup. "Yet another uneventful day..." He muttered, sipping his soup. "It's always the same..." He continued to pout. He pushed his soup away and put his head on the table. "Why does nothing interesting happen...."
A knock on the door was heard. "Come in..." He yelled slightly. The door was soon opened, and his knight, Loss curse emerged. "Another slow day today, huh?" He asked, grabbing a chair and sitting down next to him. "What do you think? Nothing cool or interesting happens anymore. I hate it. I hate it so much." Xanthus lifted up his head to look at him before banging on the table. Loss let out a sigh and proceeded to assure him. "Look, your highness. I know I can't cure you of your boredom, but uhhh.... Maybe you could like... do something?" He suggested. "Running all over the place doesn't help. And tormenting the souls doesn't feel entertaining anymore. My days are awfully repetitive. There's really not much for me to do..." He responded, lifting his head up slightly. "Yeah... I understand. Sorry." The other apologised, despite not doing anything to worsen the dilemma. "I'm just gonna go to bed. See you in the morning. " Xanthus got up from his chair and began to walk back to his room. Loss followed suit, going to his room to rest.
Meanwhile, in the outskirts of the kingdom, a crystalline beast roamed through the decaying forest. Slashing at any living being who dare approach it. It found a nearby cave where it slept in for the night.
The next day rolled around quickly. This time, Xanthus decided to explore beyond his kingdom to see what's out there. And possibly cure his boredom.
As he put on his cuffs and boots, he immediately went outside to explore. As he spotted a cluster of trees in the distance, he went past them to see what was lurking in them. He spotted a cave from a far distance and went over to investigate as his curiosity had risen to a peak. As he went inside, he felt very uneasy. Suddenly, a crystalline beast jumped out at him, pinning him to the ground. "GAH! WHAT THE?!" He yelled in surprise. The beast's mouth drooled out saliva as he slashed into the others chest. Xanthus managed to get the monster off of him and ran further from him. The beast spindashed towards him as he countered with a spindash as well. "So... you want a fight? I'll give you one." He asked as the beast growled slightly. And so, a fight commenced. Both sides fought well and hard, both refusing to give up. Unsurprisingly, Xanthus was on the brink of winning. He managed to corner the injured creature with all he had. "Hm. So much for a fearsome beast." He taunted. "I hope you enjoyed your time here, YOU PATHETIC-" Suddenly, his vision started to get blurry. He felt very drowsy. He put his hand on his head and started to groan. Until he passed out on the floor due to critical exhaustion. Curious, the beast stood up and came closer to him. Sniffing his unmoving body. "Hey sir..." He suddenly spoke, but still, the other couldn't wake up. Worried, the beast carried him deeper into the cave in order to go tend to his wounds.
