The 7 Sins: GLUTTONY

An endless chasm of insatiable want,
Devouring all in its relentless, ravenous haunt.
The belly's demands, an incessant decree,
As gluttony's shadow swallows moderation's key.

No morsel left untouched, no craving left unsated,
Indulgence trumps the wisdom that once was feted.
Reason bows before the stomach's unyielding reign,
As the spirit's true sustenance is cast away in disdain.

A false comfort in the fleeting pleasures of the flesh,
Masking the deeper hunger that reason cannot quench.
The soul's true nourishment, forgotten in the fray,
As the body's cravings hold dominion, day after day.

In this endless pursuit of gastronomic delight,
The self becomes a vessel, consumed by appetite's blight.
Discernment fades, as the palate's demands take hold,
Distorting the senses, the heart's wisdom untold.

Yet, within this abyss of excess and gluttony's sway,
A whisper of longing may still find a way -
The cry for balance, for moderation's steady hand,
To restore the harmony that true fulfillment demands.

For in the end, the path of gluttony leads astray,
Leaving the spirit famished, the self in disarray.
True nourishment lies not in the body's insatiable need,
But in the sustenance that the soul and spirit both feed.
