I set up my desk and looked around the room. Everybody was busy doing something and here I was slightly clueless on what to do. I read over the case file once more to make sure we didn't miss anything.
"So what got you to take on good ok' Quantico?"
I look up at Morgan. He's pretty easy in the eyes but not my type. I'm not too fond of the muscly types.
"My parents were killed when I was 13. They never found the person who did it. I wanted to be somebody who helps the families of victims get closure."
"So it wasn't to find the guy who got your parents?"
"Not at all. I mean, sure I'd love to let him know how I feel but I'm more concentrated on others."
"Then you'll do fine on this team."
He sets his eyes back to his computer and I set mine back to my file. Maybe another twenty minutes later I get tapped on the shoulder.
"I'm Jennifer. Everybody calls me JJ. I just wanna say, for all of us, it's good to have a new team member. If you need anything I'm always a desk away."
She gives me a sweet smile and a tight squeeze on the shoulder and walks away. Maybe it won't be too bad here after all.
"Hey Fletch."
I look at Morgan a bit confused.
"Fletch?"
"Yeah. You're a part of the team. You get a nickname."
"I've never been called anything but Kid or Pretty boy."
I turned my head to see Reid with his face buried in a book but still paying attention.
"Ah so mister genius can talk around pretty girls."
Morgan laughs and looks at Reid.
"Maybe you should make eye contact next time."
I looked down a bit then turned my attention back to Reid.
"Pretty boy huh? All I see is a head full of hair consumed in the pages of a sociology book."
He turns his head towards me quickly.
"How did you know it was sociology?"
"Lucky guess. I'm not too sure the nickname "pretty boy" fits you. Maybe bean pole or stilts."
He just stared at me. Now him. He's more than easy on the eyes. He's tall and a tad lanky but still fit. And boy am I a sucker for guys with long hair.
"Stilts is a good one."
We all look in one general direction. Rossi's.
"Looks like we're going to Houston after all. Jet lifts off in and hour."
Looks like my job starts now. Let's see how well I do in the field.
