Undeniable Truths

It had already been a couple of months since Reid and I "finally became the FBI power couple that should have shacked up months ago" as our wonderful Garcia put it. Hotch has yet to have her drug tested obviously. We love her non the less. Poor Spencer got practically mauled by JJ and Morgan with hugs and pats on the back. I on the other hand got taken out to dinner by the ladies on our team. I've been watched like a hawk since the "incident." Don't get me wrong, it's not like I mind being safe and not going into rooms alone it's just, I'm starting to feel like a bit of a burden to everyone else on the team.

We touched down in Tampa about an hour ago and have already been chucked right into the deep end. Seems as if, within the few hours it took for us to get here, they had already managed to find a gigantic break in the case. He screwed up. Big time. Our lovely unsub picked somebody a wee bit too big for him and took too long to dump the body is his usual spot. Now they don't know if the car is his or the victim's because they have yet to completely identify them but they do have a name and a plate number. We are all waiting for Penelope to dig every bit of info up that she can get her adorable little hands on. That's all we can do for right now. Wait.

JJ has been put on "Willow duty" as Morgan calls it. I laugh every time seeing as he says it like a suburban soccer mom but Reid doesn't think its all that funny. He knows that I hate being babysat but I made him promise to keep his mouth shut. So far so good. Especially for him. I don't mind it when I have JJ though. I think she can tell I don't like it.

"We have an ID on the victim and we're back to square one babes."

Garcia has come through as well as the coroner.

"The vic is Twenty-six year old Paul Bradberry. That lovely BMW was also his. Our unsub smartened up and dumped it at some random impound lot a mile from the dumpsite."

Hotch is staring at the phone thinking.

"If he dumped it a mile from the body then he either walked quite a ways or he lives close by."

"Or our profile is off and it's not just him?"

Rossi is the one to bring that idea out of the box.

"But we are never wrong."

"That's not entirely true Morgan..."

Reid, at this point is staring at the floor.

"When have you guys been wrong? sure as hell hasn't been while I've been on this team and that's for damn sure."

Morgan sighs and pats his back before speaking up.

"We all thought her stalker was a man. We were wrong. We aren't always right either. It could be possible that we missed something somewhere."

"Oh... I didn't... I'm sorry"

"It's fine Willow. I didn't want to drag you into all of it."

Reid got up and left. with that I think that Garcia felt the newly constructed tension from states away and cleared her throat before simply saying.

"I'll see what I can find."

"Thanks babygirl."

All I could do was sit there wondering if i screwed up. He never talked about Maeve and i never asked. It was hard for him to talk about and I realized that. I knew some of what  happened. I knew that the first time he ever saw her he watched her die right in front of him. I knew she was some sort of scientist and she was smarter than him. I know he loved her even though he never told her. He won't admit it now though.

"You should go talk to him. I think there may be a few things he hasn't told you."

Leave it to Papa Rossi to tear me out of my own head. I just nod a bit and stand up to walk out before turning to JJ to let her know. She beats me to the punch and nods for me to leave.

"He needs you more than us right now kiddo. Go."

I nod and set off to find him. The only funny thing about this situation is asking the officers who haven't been introduced to him if they've seen a walking pipe cleaner with eyes and boyband hair.It took a good ten minutes to find him and quite a few weird looks. He had climbed the fire escape to the roof of the field office. I did what anybody would do and sat by him on the edge quietly.

"I'm fine. Go back inside."

"First of all, no you aren't. Second, I'm with a fellow team member so it doesn't matter where I am. What's wrong Spence?"

He sat there for a minute staring off into the distance. Then he sighed. No doubt trying to keep himself from crying.

"You remind me of her sometimes you know? Your're smart and have a sense of humor. Plus you put up with my ramblings and facts."

"First of all she was a Super genius. I'm not as smart as her. I will have you know that I love your factoids and your ramblings. It's you being you. That's the best thing you can be babe."

"I never told you how I found her. Or why."

That's what triggered me to look at him.

"What do you mean?"

"A while back I started getting these really bad headaches and doctors couldn't figure out why. I found her and contacted her to she if she had an answer."

"But couldn't it have just been chronic migraines? I don't understand why you were so worried?"

"I was so worried because..... Because my mom has.. My mom has schizophrenia. It's genetically passed but doesn't show up right off. Headaches are one of the first symptoms."

"You were scared. there's nothing wrong with that."

He looked at me genuinely confused.

"What? Do you really think I'm going to let that affect us? Spencer, I've had massive anxiety since i was eleven. I've been on meds for it for years. If I walked now that would make me the biggest asshat ever. Mental illness is mental illness. It doesn't matter how it rears it's ugly head.I'm not going to leave for something like that. I'm not going to be afraid of you for it either. And from what you've told me about your mom she seems like quite the badass. I mean she did raise you."

He just stared at me. Completely caught off guard.

"Babe I helped you through a dilaudid relapse. I literally watched you puke your brains out for days. If you think I'm leaving then i may as well hit you with a bat. You big oaf."

With that I pulled him into what was probably a bone crushing hug for his beanpole of a body and kissed him to get me point across. I could tell he felt better and didn't feel like he was lying to me anymore.

"I bet she was pretty."

"She was absolutely beautiful. Just like you. She was just a bit more serious all the time."

"Well pardon me boy genius. I think after being kidnapped and tortured i deserve to be a little bit of a pain in the ass from time to time. Don't you?"

He laughed and stood back up offering me a hand.

"I suppose so. Let's get back inside before they come looking for us."

"Worried they think we're being inappropriate on the job?"

I briefly saw him turn bright red as i walked back to the fire escape to go back in giggling to myself as i stepped down it. He followed close behind still at lease a little pink in the face I'm sure. If he thinks he can scare me off that easily then he must be out of his beautiful mind. I'm not going anywhere.
