In her decade of life as Naerys Velaryon, Naerys grew to love her new family. Her loving mother, Rhaenyra. Her supportive father(s), Laenor (and Harwin). Her dear twin brother, Jacaerys. Her stern but kind grandfather, Corlys Velaryon. And her regal grandmother, Rhaenys. Naerys also loved her gentle aunt, Helaena, not that the Queen liked it when they spent time together. But there was one member of her new family who had a special place in her heart. Her sweet younger brother, Lucerys.
The day Lucerys was born was an emotional one for Naerys. She remembers it vividly. Naerys had been immensely worried and nervous for her new mother, Rhaenyra. The women of House Targaryen had a history of complicated pregnancies and births. Both her great grandmothers Alyssa and Daella, as well as her grandmother Aemma, had died due to complications of child birth. Even Naerys herself as Padmé had died just moments after naming her children.
So Naerys had been a nervous wreck waiting for news of her mother. Jace, her twin, had been none the wiser about what was truly happening. But Naerys had known. She had tried to hide it, but she didn't think she was entirely successful. Her grandmother was very perceptive.
Still, her fears were for naught. Her mother had given birth easily. And Naerys had been able to meet her newest brother. Not that she'd known it was a brother at the time.

"What's his name?"
Her mother stopped and blinked a few times in quick succession. "I do not know. I had not thought of a boys name."
Naerys looked down at the little face of her new baby brother, and had to stop her self from gasping. They didn't look very similar, but something about this new baby brother of hers reminded her of–
"Luke."
"What was that sweet girl?"
"She said Luke!" Jacaerys chirped happily.
"Huh. Luke? He does look like a Luke doesn't he?"
Naerys said nothing, she had already said too much. She didn't know if she'd be able to stand her new brother having the same name as the son she never got to raise.
"How about.... Lucerys"
'Yes',Naerys thought, 'that would be a good name'
"I love it muña!" Naerys replied excited. [Mother]
It was close to Luke, but not exactly it.
"A great name" her father, Laenor, replied.

Now, 7 years after Lucerys birth, her mother is once again giving birth. This time, Naerys had pleaded to be in the room, to be there for her mother. She wouldn't have been able to do much for her but hold her hand and encourage her. But, she was denied. Instead she had been given a special secret job by her grandmother.
Giving birth in Westeros was messier and more dangerous than it had been for Padmé. There were no Medical Droids here to help, only midwives and maesters. Well, normally. Each time she had given birth, Princess Rhaenyra had forbidden the presence of a maester, despite the grand maesters insistence that he should be present.
