Santana woke up and looked to her right, she smiled at the sight of Madeleine sprawled out on Santana's bed. Her tanned bare back glowing against the ray of the sun spilling through the window, Santana lay closer to her and traced her finger around her back drawing hearts with her nails until Madeleine stirred.
"Daddy! Aria is just my best-friend- that is all! Ask Thomas he'll tell you!"
A younger Madeleine shrieks, cowering away from her father on the floor of her bedroom.
"Thomas isn't here to talk me out of this!"
The man shouts.
"Lottie will-" Madeleine starts.
"Charlotte told me about this! So I'll ask you again-"
Madeleine's head snaps up from the pillow abruptly, Santana sits up concerned and strokes her hair.
"You okay Mad?"
She asks softly, unraveling herself from the sheets."Yeah- um... I forgot I was meant to take Isabel to- um gymnastics this morning. I'll be late."
Madeleine throws on Santana's hoodie and pulls on her shorts, Santana watched the distressed girl exit her bedroom with a frown on her face.
Madeleine returned home and called her mother and Charlotte to the dinner table- unfortunately Thomas wasn't home to back her up for this conversation but she could handle it.
"Charl, I'm sorry for keeping a secret from you- I've apologised multiple times so I think you need to get over this- you've moved on with Puck so its time you move on with me."
Madeleine states. She watches Charlotte take a sigh and just as Charlotte places a hand on the table, their mother yanks it back.
"Don't speak to your sister like that! She was right to be mad-" Andrea starts.
"I know that-" Madeleine interrupts.
"Don't you interrupt me Madeleine- or should I say Valerie? You came back here and automatically caused your sister and Noah to break up- are you seeing a pattern here? You dramatically storm out of this house and come crawling back and act like nothing happened. Your sister has always treated you so well and this is how you repay her?"
Andrea stands, she continued her rant despite Charlotte tugging at her mother in attempt to silence her.
Madeleine stood up seconds after her mother, the resemblance in the two was uncanny. They had the same angry scowl.
"Treated me well huh? So it wasn't darling Charlotte who ratted to our father about the Aria rumours? Charlotte I'm sorry but I'm not going to let our mother stand here and call you perfect when we all have our flaws."
Madeleine shouts."Compared to you Charlotte is perfect. As is Thomas and Isabel- you are the black sheep of the family, the disgrace. We heard all about your time in Cleveland, the cigarettes and boys- you are a wreck! Now get up to your room and fix up up your life, I don't want to look at you!"
Her voice quickly switched from calm to a yell.Charlotte stared at her younger sister, her eyes wide with fear. Madeleine kept her composure as she stood, knocking the chair over and stomping up to her bedroom.
Madeleine threw herself onto her queen-size bed and bawled into the duvet until her throat was raw and she was too exhausted to cry anymore, she dozed off and woke up to her sister knocking on the door.
