A week has passed since Heeseung sent me that warning message, which has caused me to get quite mad at him. Luckily enough for me, I am stubborn and have free will to do whatever the fuck I want.

I know I really should be listening to the warning, there's probably a reason he told me not to talk to Hyunjin, maybe that it made him feel insecure. But, I can't just ditch my friend like that, I've already made that mistake once before.

Today is my first day of being un-grounded, which already puts me in a good mood just thinking about it.

It kind of cancels out the fact that I have to go to school today and learn, because I know that as soon as I get home, I can go out wherever I want to, and see whoever I want to.

I sigh, as I glare at the reflection staring back at me in the mirror. I adjust my hair slightly, before striding out of the door, into the freezing cold air.

It is almost December here in Seoul, which also means, Christmas is getting closer. I am not excited for Christmas, at all. Actually, I am more than dreading it.

Since I was a child, Christmas day has always had some sort of dramatic event take place, disrupting the Christmas spirit.

Take when I was seven for an example, my parents got into this massive argument about a puppy that my mum secretly bought me for my Christmas present.

The argument resulted in my dad sleeping outside in the heavy snow. I didn't get to keep my puppy for very long after that. I miss you, Marshmallow. Lots of love.

There was another time when I was ten, when my parents and I went out to a fancy restaurant for Christmas dinner, and one of the waiters got jumped by a group of teenagers sitting on the table next to us as he was coming over with our food that we had been waiting for, for at least fifteen minutes.

It sounds absolutely insane, but it's true. I think my family is cursed, or something along the lines of that, because events like this this happen almost every year.

I walk out of the school gates, laughing and gossiping with Felix about our insane maths teacher, who has struck once again, this time ripping up someone's workbook because they were doodling. I don't know how she hasn't been fired yet.

As we walk and talk, we both look up to the sound of a voice calling our names. Well, my name.

"Aera!" shouts Hyunjin, waving his hands up in the air like a lunatic. He looks like he has just run a marathon, because his voice sounds very out of breath.

I'm tempted to just ignore him and pretend my name isn't Aera, just to humiliate him in front of all these people who are leaving the school grounds.

Checking both ways carefully, Felix and I cross the road to get to Hyunjin, who now has his hands on his knees, breathing heavily. I wonder what he wants.

"Aera, I need you," Hyunjin states. I raise my eyebrows, my eyes widening a little as I slowly glance from side to side.

"Go on.." I say as my eyes look into his, my eyebrows now furrowing a little in curiosity.

"I need you to help me with something. Can I come over to your house? Like, right now?" He pants, before looking at Felix, stretching his hand out to place on his shoulder. "Hey bro, dinner's in the fridge. Just heat it up in the microwave and it'll ready to eat. See you later."

Felix smiles cheerfully and nods, skipping away in the direction of his and Hyunjin's house. I turn to look up at Hyunjin, who is already looking at me with hopeful eyes.
