"Girls" the principal rubs his eyes out of frustration. "Do you know how important that game was." We both stay silent, beaten and dirty. "That game was gonna bring so much money in for both of your schools." I look over to Jane she's looking down. We got into a pretty bad fight. Probably all the rage we have at each other exploding after building for two years. She had a black eye, bruises, dirt on her face, a bloody lip and her shoulder length brunette hair was a mess. My injuries weren't very different. "Sorry" I mutter to the principal. "No, Your punishment is OSS for two weeks." I try to interject but he cuts me off "the nurse will be with you shortly" he walks out sighing and shutting the door behind him.

The air is awkward trying to clear it I presume Jane speaks up. "Im... sorry for pushing you" Jane apologizes she's still looking down. "It's fine I deserved it-"

Jane cuts me off. "No, you didn't" Im surprised. "Jane, how do I not deserve it. I egged your house punched you" i argue. Jane ignores the question but asks a difficult question "why didn't you write, when I moved." Jane questions me looking me right in the eyes. This time I look down.

"Just family stuff I got distracted" I tried to be vague but not too vague to not give an actual answer cause she deserved it. "Distracted enough to not talk to your friend you've had since kindergarten" Jane is right. Just because my life is shitty doesn't mean I have to cut her out. "Billy died. I live in a trailer now, my mom most the time too drunk to even remember my name and I usually don't eat most nights."

Jane looks surprised, she knew my life was shitty but not like that. "Oh, shit I'm sorry max. I didn't know" Jane apologized and pulled me into a hug. I wrap my arms around her and quietly sob. I didn't really cry as much as I should've but Jane is different. Even after two years she was a person a could cry to and she would understand. Janes grip on me tightens. "I missed this" I say into Jane's shoulder. She pulls out of the hug and puts her hands on shoulder her knuckles are still red from punching me.

"Missed what?" Jane questioned me, "You". Jane was about to open her mouth but the nurse came in to bring us to the actual nurses office. "This way, girls" The nurse gestured us to the office. We were still wearing our dirty and a little bloody jerseys on. We had to take those off and like all the padding you have to wear. So we were both in some shorts and tank tops. This is when I noticed how strong she looked. And her shoulder length hai was just resting nicely on her shoulders. She was nice to look at. She noticed me looking and I turned away my face flushing.
