A sunny day in Tokyo...
At the local university, there was a lot going on. The freshmen were studying for their last exams, some of the juniors did the same, and for the seniors... well...

Orihara was blinded by the sun when she stepped outside one of the campus' main buildings. It had three - the southern, northeast and northwest building. For Orihara, she was studying graphic design. Maybe one day she'll work as artist for big productions, who knows?
Chanting a little tune to herself, she sat down at a bench in the campus garden and took out her sketchbook.

A perfect motive.

Orihara scribbled out some students playing a card game in the grass, and it turned out pretty well. Maybe some lines here and there...
After a few more strokes and erasing, her piece of art was completed. Now it wasn't the students playing cards anymore; now they were people in long robes sitting around a small kitten and feeding it fish. It looked kind of weird.

「Maybe weird is the new normal?」Orihara thought to herself.

Just then, strands of blue hair fell over her shoulder. 「Ha? Who's that?」The artist turned around to look at a familiar colleague.

"A really good piece of art you've drawn there." Ado said with a smile. "Ah, thank you. You're Ado, right? Which course are you taking?" "Genuine question." Ado tapped her temple.
"I don't remember..."
Orihara laughed. "You've been studying things for three years and can't remember which course it is?" "It's not really interesting... I'm only going to uni because my parents told me so." "Ohh, now I get it." Ado pulled a strand of her hair behind her ear. "So that's what you're doing in the breaks? Drawing people?" "Pretty much, yeah. I'd like to capture the moment. Not asking 'what have they been?' or 'what will they be?', just being in the present." "That quite a deep thought." Ado grinned, then leaned more foward to see more of the picture.

She was very close to Orihara now, too. The artist's heart was going a little faster.

"The cat is really cute. And the way they're worshipping it... I could be one of them." "Then we're covering up two of them... Oh! I have an idea!"
Orihara took her pencil again and began a new sketch. It was herself and Ado in some shady robes, each of them holding a cat in their arms.

Orihara then turned to her colleague again. To her surprise, the blue haired girl has taken place next to her and probably had watched her every move. "I agree." Ado replied, as if she could read the artist's mind. "We haven't gotten much in touch, hm? Well, the only thing I know is your name." "Haha, you're right. Then let's get closer to each other. So... Want to swap contact info?"
Ado laughed. "Good idea."

Soon, the break ended. Orihara and Ado parted ways, giving each other a wave before departing to their courses. Both were quite happy about the fact they made a new friend; especially Ado, who was more of a lone wolf. Nonetheless, she had a feeling that Orihara and her would spend the next breaks togheter...

Well, not if it rains.

After the last lesson for today, Ado found herself looking at the pattering rain in front of the building's door. 「The weather report said it'd be sunny...」
The other students mostly brought umbrellas, and those who haven't had at least a friend to walk through the rain with. The blue haired woman sighed. Ado continued to stay there for what felt like eternity, but the rain didn't seem to stop. 「I bet everyone has left by now.」Just when she was about to pull out one of the lecture books to cover herself, she saw a red umbrella coming towards her.

It was Orihara. Ado felt tears of joy in her eyes. "Ado! I'm so glad you're still here. I wanted to walk home with you since it started to rain, but then I noticed my lecture was longer than yours... I'm so sor-"
The artist was interrupted by a tight hug. Orihara was kind of startled, but eventually returned the warm embrace. "Thank you so much. Really, I mean it." Ado let go again. "Ah, no worries. But why didn't your other friends take you home?"

「Shit, I've been caught.」the blue haired woman thought for 2 milliseconds, before saying "You know, three people at once can't fit under an umbrella. That's what they said, though." Orihara nodded. "Let's go then? It's getting quite cold already, so we shouldn't stay out too long."

The two got close to each other, barely fitting under the red umbrella. Whilst her friend held it and made sure they didn't get that wet, Ado clinged to her arm, trying to take up less space. She felt good, being close to someone else after such a long time.
Orihara felt the same. It was good having more physical contact, even though it was with a person she 'met' a few hours ago. Whatever, the past or future isn't that important, 𝚒𝚝'𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚖𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚠𝚑𝚒𝚌𝚑 𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚝.
