Rafe Cameron. Oh how to describe, Rafe Cameron? He is rude, possessive, proactive, and jealous. Thats how everyone saw him. But you? You saw him as a kind, understanding, and hardworking guy. He was your best friend.

You are dating JJ. JJ Maybank, the bad boy who surfs, party's, and steals. That's how everyone saw him. You see him as a sweet guy who cares for you and his friends.

Now you and Rafe have a past. Not a dating past, but a situationship past. You guys would flirt regularly, almost as if you guys were dating. Everyone used to assume y'all were a couple. You both would deny it but you both wished it was true. Sometimes Rafe would get distant, not call or text you for days. It drove you crazy. You had enough of the mix signals so you started dating your other friend JJ.

JJ was always flirty with you and late at night when you guys would drink beer by the dock and look at the stars you would tell him your problems with Rafe and he would tell you the same thing, 'you deserve better'. You knew he was right every time he told you that but you still held on to Rafe.

When you started dating JJ, you never spoke to Rafe...well at least for the first 8 months. You would sit in your bed at night thinking about how you missed Rafe. Look JJ was a nice guy, a good boyfriend who treated you right but there was just something missing. You didn't feel complete.

You decided one night to call Rafe. You guys talked and you told him how you were feeling. He said he missed you and wanted to see you again. You knew JJ wasn't gonna allow that so you just didn't tell him.

After you got off the phone with Rafe, you looked through old pictures of you and him together. Being friends with Rafe was a blessing and a curse. A blessing because he treated you right and gave you that feeling that you were complete in life. A curse because he was a sickness you couldn't heal from. You didn't want to risk him getting distant again, but you did love the risk.

After you look through the pictures you try and get some sleep. As you try to go to sleep you can't help yourself but feel this underwhelming guilt. You did really love JJ but in your heart you knew he wasn't the one but in your head you couldn't help but feel the need to stay with him. You cried not knowing if this was the right thing to do. You didn't know what to do. Your heart was in one place and your head was in another. You didn't know which one to follow.

But does he know you call me when he sleeps?

The next day you decided to go visit Rafe and talk about how you were feeling. He told you how he was feeling and that he wanted to be with you this time. You didn't know if it was a good idea. You were scared of him getting distant again but he reassured you the only reason he became distant was because he didn't know how to deal with his feelings towards you, now he does. You told him that you were still in a relationship with JJ. He understood but knew that JJ wasn't the one for you. He told you to stay with JJ if that's what you really wanted. You didn't know what you wanted though. Rafe said JJ is a great guy regardless of them two not getting along. You told him you needed to do some thinking and you would let him know later on in the day.

You go and see JJ. He's lying on the couch talking to John B. You ask if y'all can talk. He says yes and you two walk out to the dock and sit. He offers you some of his beer but you reject it. He ask you why you wanted to talk. You tell him how you've been feeling and that you went to go see Rafe earlier. You see him looking sad and then annoyed when you brought up Rafe's name. He gets mad that you went to see Rafe. You tell him how this has been so hard for you because you don't know what to do. He notices you crying and he goes back to being soft. He hugs you trying to understand your feelings. You apologize to him for not wanting to date him anymore. He says it's okay but you know it's not. You tell him how great he is and that it's nothing personal. You just don't feel complete. He says if Rafe is what will make you happy then he's fine with that. He says as long as you're happy he's happy. You give him another hug and kiss his cheek. You tell him you love him and that you will see him later.

You go back to see Rafe. When you get out of your car you see him on the balcony and he sees you. You smile with tears in your eyes and you go inside to go upstairs and see him looking out into the sunset. He turns around when he hears your footsteps approaching him. You jump into his arms and kiss him. He picked you up with his hands around your waist and continues to kiss you. You both smile knowing you now are both complete.
