"I really think we should get our own apartment after we graduate. Both of us together. We could paint the walls purple and red!" Taylor said as she smiled down at her phone. She was currently scrolling through Pinterest looking at all the house decoration pins.
"Purple and Red?" I asked, tilting my head.
"DUH! My favorite color and your favorite color. Obviously!" She said before glancing up at me. I rolled my eyes before I shook my head.
"No thank you. How about calm colors? Maybe white or black with one of those colors?" I asked.
"Kali, honey, let me do the thinking. We both know you're not the most artistic person. Your room is literally black, white, and maybe purple." She shrugged.
"Yes ma'am." I said, rolling my eyes.
"My brother and his merry band are almost here." She said as she narrowed her eyes on her phone.
I was nervous to say the least. I hadn't spoken to any of them in so long. I'm honestly surprised that Austin was here without them. I'll definitely have to ask Taylor about that later.
"OH! I knew I was forgetting to mention something." She said, rolling her eyes before she sat up on the bed.
"Um, the guys aren't really in kahoots right now. I can't tell you why, mostly because I don't know my damn self. But you should know that they aren't exactly seeing eye to eye. So don't be shocked if they barely interact with each other." She stammered as she nervously rubbed her hands on her pants.
"How long has it been like that?" I asked quickly.
"Uh, kinda since you went missing. I've tried to ask them what happened between them but they just do that thing were they threaten me and tell me to fuck off." She shrugged.
I sighed and rubbed my neck. Why didn't Austin mention this earlier? I could have figured out some way to fix it by now if he had said something.
"Don't do that!" Taylor screeched as she gently pinched my ankle.
"Do what?" I asked quickly.
"Try to play peacekeeper. For god's sake kali, you're in a hospital bed! You can't be mother Teresa today! Which is probably not a good comparison because apparently she wasn't too great. BUT you get my point. You deserve nothing but R and R. YOU NEED IT WOMEN!" She squealed as she gently shook me.
"Ok Taylor. I won't fix it. I'll just let them be mad at each other." I said, smiling at her.
"Stop being sarcastic! I know you want to fix this, but this is something they need to figure out. They're grown ass men. They need to damn act like it. Hell. They get on my damn nerves." She fumed as she absentmindedly glared at the wall.
"Ok T. I won't say anything. You're right. They're grown. They can fix it by themselves." I agreed. She looked at me and smiled like a crazy person.
"I thought that would take a lot more convincing." She shrugged. I smiled and shook my head.
"I'm too tired to fight with you T. Besides, you always win anyways." I shrugged.
"Exactly! Which is why we should never argue." She nodded.
"Oh look! They're here. I have to go get them. I'll be right back." She said as she stood up and quickly pulled her shoes back on.
"WAIT! Y-You can't leave. Can't they find the room by themselves?" I asked quickly. I was terrified of being alone. I never want to be alone again. Not here.
"You know they're stupid. Besides, the hospital won't let them in because they're not family. I had to convince them I was your foster mother and Austin told them he was your fiance." She said smiling.
