"Mama, can you stop being dramatic? This is exactly why I didn't tell you

"Mama, can you stop being dramatic? This is exactly why I didn't tell you.." I groaned watching my mother pace back and forth.

"Dramatic? Your father slaps you as if you're some random man on the street and I'm being dramatic?! He just wait until I get my hands on him!" She anger shouted as I rested my hand along my forehead.

"I would've slapped him right back.." Solange shrugged from beside me, biting into her sandwich immediately after.

"Solange.." My mother said in a knowing tone. Solange shrugged as if to say she meant what she said but made no further comments.

I've waited almost a month to reveal this to my mom. I even avoided her calls and her home for this very reason. My mama could spot something wrong with me from a mile away.

So it didn't come as a surprise when she immediately knew something was on my mind the movement I stepped onto her doorstep.

After telling her, the reaction she gave was less than surprising. She wanted to see him immediately. Probably already plotting how she was going to slap him the same way he did me.

"Beyoncé show me exactly how his hand went across your face so I can do the same to him. Ole bastard.." She mumbled the last part as she walked over to me awaiting a demonstration.

See...

"Mama, it's really not that serious.." I sighed. She eventually relented and started to ask me about how I was doing despite that.

I told her how my album was coming along and how I planned for this next phase in my music career to pan out. Her and my sister listened intently and I knew my sister loved it the moment she began to tease me about it.

"And how's Michelle?" She smiled harder than she did when I told her about my music that was for sure.

"She's good mama." I smiled awkwardly and then started rambling off questions.

"So are you going to make her my sister cause that would be cool and then y'all could have a huge wedding—"

"Solange, who even said we're together?!" I asked only to be might with a face that read 'really?' I turned to my mom for support but she held the same look.

"Please Beyoncé you see Michelle and practically start drooling!" My mama replied.

My jaw dropped as I stared at the both of them high-five. "Well, we're not getting married anytime soon. We just became girlfriends.."

"I thought you said lesbians move fast though.." Solange shrugged. "When do you ever listen to what I say?! And besides Michelle is new to all of this and we don't need to get married now.."

"Well just don't mess it up because I see how happy you make each other and that isn't something you find everyday..." My mom shrugged.

I thought about her words my entire way home. Of course it would be my dream to marry Michelle but that wasn't happening for some years. I just wanted to live in this moment where we both enjoyed each other enough to be vulnerable.
