"No no I remember it all too well your stubborn self decided to jump in that night" he laughs recalling an embarrassing night from my senior year of high school.

Diego was my first boyfriend we had started dating around second semester sophomore year of high school but split right before graduation considering we were both going to be in different states. He was going to San Diego state while I was heading to storrs.

Truly there was nothing wrong with the relationship but we knew being in a relationship would hold us back from experimenting in college.

"So how've you been?" I ask. "I've been good I just started an internship here shadowing for a rising architect company" "no way that's great! You got lucky with it being right at home" I smile enthusiastically.

"Yeah and hopefully I'd be able to work with them next year as well securing a job for after graduation" he smiles. "Well I know you'll get the offer they'd be crazy not to offer you anything after two years of free labor" I joke.

"Ugh don't even remind me" he laughs. "How about you are you liking your internship?" He asks "of course I love it I love the team I love the game I love everything about it" "that's good I'm proud of you I know you've worked so hard for it" he smiles kindly.

"Well thank you I had so much fun catching up" I tell him as we make it up my driveway. "Yeah we should do this some other time when we're both back in town" I nod "of course just shoot over a text" I smile standing still as we reach the front door.

"Alright well goodnight" he smiles leaning in for a hug "have a good night drive back safely" "thank you Maddie" he says walking away.

I put in the pin to the door and go inside. "Guys?" I ask loudly "in the kitchen!"

I make my way through the hallways reaching the kitchen and see my family sitting around the island. "Hi what are you eating?" I ask "macarons mom made" Martha says holding up one of the pastries.

"Ooo did you make the rasp-m" "they're in the refrigerator" my mom smiles. I skip over and grab the box meant for me and join them. "How come Diego didn't come in" Martha asks making me shrug.

"Where's Paige?" My dad asks "don't know these are really good mom" "gracias mija" "such a shame that the team didn't win today" my dad continues. "They'll straighten themselves out" "I'm sure I mean Paige is just coming back from that injury I'm sure it's hard on her" my dad says "okay that's enough paige talk" I tell him.

"Thank you guys again for letting me stay here" I hear Nika's voice. I turn around and smile. "Hi you're here" I smile hugging her "I was hoping the invite was still available" she laughs "obviously geno was a little mad but he'll get over it" she shrugs.

"Mm yeah did you eat already?" I ask "we offered" my mom says quickly putting her arms up in defense which makes us all laugh. "I wasn't hungry" Nika giggles "are you hungry now? There's this Italian restaurant near here" I tell her "is it still open?" I nod "cmon my treat" "let me just go change shoes" she says.

"Do you guys want to come?" I ask my family "we are too many corn dogs at the game" Martha laughs. "You sure?" I ask they all nod in unison. "Me puedo llevar tu carro mami?" My mom hands me the keys "thank you" I say running off upstairs to check on nika.

"Yeah paige had texted me that she was going out to a bar" Nika says taking a sip of her soda. "She has her location off" I say scrolling through the 'find my' app. "It's whatever I guess" I add and she laughs. "It is not whatever you're upset"

"I am but I'm not doing anything about it she's the one who should apologize" I shrug. "Okayyyy enough of Paige talk who was the guy?" She smiles.

"Mm just an old friend" "just an old friend?" She says emphasizing the "just" making me giggle. "He was my first and I guess only boyfriend" I laugh. "Ooo and he made an appearance" "yeah he said he wanted to catch up" "have you not talked to him in like ages or what?"

"Well we interact here and there on social media just mainly like liking posts and stories" "and he just showed up out of nowhere?" She laughs I simply nod. "Yeah?" "Madeline" "what?" "He totally is still into you" she laughs.

"He is not" "Maddie he willingly paid for a ticket to come see us play because he sees your apart of the team and wanted to see you god knows how he got so close to the locker rooms too that was kinda weird but that's another conversation he could've just well sent a dm or something but he chose to see you in person"

"well it truly doesn't matter I have an idiot girlfriend that I very much like" I say laughing picking up my phone to see if I had gotten any messages from her but nothing. "Oo kk is live" I laugh "of course she is" Nika says coming to sit on my side of the booth.

I open the notification which immediately takes me to the live. "Here is your food ladies" the server says placing our meals on the table. "Thank you" Nika and I say in unison "would you like anything else? Everything look good?" She asks "everything is great thank you" I smile before the waitress walks off.

"Ooo is it actually mads or are y'all trolling, Maddie is that you?" she asks making nika and I laugh. "Is that Maddie?" She asks as ice comes on frame. "Lemme see" ice says taking the phone "yeah it is Maddie look at where we're at do you know this place?" Ice asks flipping the camera panning the camera everywhere.

"Request" nika giggles pressing the request button on my screen. "Oh it is Maddie" ice giggles over the screen accepting the request.

"Hey I wanna see too" kk says setting the phone against something and they take a seat. "Hi girly pops" kk waves. "Hi kk" "where are you girls?" Nika asks. "We're at a little dining place" kk chuckles. "Who's there?" Nika asks again.

"Uh Ice, Amari, Carol, Aubrey, P and Jana oh and some of the dancers" kk lists off. I hit the mute button "call ice" I turn to Nika and she does ice answers "is p with Isabella?" I say turning away from the live "uhm I don't see her" she says.

"Are you sure?" I ask "they could be by the bar" ice says "okay thanks" I say and she hangs up. I unmute the live "okay no need to mention our loss" kk laughs. "Trust next game we're on fire" ice says. "We need that redemption for real" Nika says.

Just then I see the two blonde girls I was looking for walk into the frame. "Here is p boogers and her friend" ice says. "Nika how come you didn't come?" Paige asks Nika turn to me "I'm exhausted Maddie offered for me to stay at hers" she explains.

"So you're staying over there?" She asks and Nika nods. "Awh what a shame nik we miss you over here" Isabella says wrapping her arm around Paige.

"Wait what's your name again?" Nika asks "okay y'all I think that's the end of this live bye" kk waves before cutting off the live stream. "Is Paige out of her mind" Nika raises her voice.

"Mhmm and she's acting very immature" I say bitterly.
