Gwen felt really tired as she walked through the school corridors. She hadn't slept all night because all she could think about was Danielle.

How was she going to survive without her?

They always walked to school together, they always walked through the corridors together, they always had lunch together, they always did homework together, they always studied together...

They did everything together.

Now she had to do everything alone.

She did have other friends, but they were different. They weren't like Danielle. She was special. They had a lot of things in common. No one understood her like Danielle did.

Sure, Gwen was the one who would always give her advice, but she liked helping her best friend. It made her feel special. It made her forget about her problems.

Problems that she couldn't ignore for much longer. She had to take care of them. Even though they weren't as important, she still had to do something.

As she buried herself in her thoughts, her attention went to two girls from her math class, who were whispering something in each other's ears as they looked at Gwen.

There was no way they weren't talking about Danielle. Probably about how what happened to her would change Gwen's life, how nothing would be the same anymore and that they would never wish something like that to happen even to their worst enemy.

Gwen hated when people looked at her. She hated when people gave her attention, and now she was the center of attention thanks to what happened.

She wanted people to stop looking at her. To stop talking about her.

She wanted so badly to go and tell them to stop, but she couldn't.

She wished she was at home right now. She didn't want to see anyone, she just needed to be alone.

She arrived at her locker and opened it carefully, trying to look as calm as possible. Maybe that would make people stop looking at her?

If she acted like everything was normal, maybe people wouldn't pay so much attention.

Unfortunately, it didn't work.

She couldn't understand why people wouldn't stop looking at her.

After she took her things from her locker, she closed it and rushed through the corridors for her History class.

She spent the rest of her class thinking about Danielle and not paying attention.

"So, if you paid attention, you will have no problems on tomorrow's test" the teacher said.

Great. There was a test tomorrow, and Gwen didn't listen to a word Mr. Willson said.

Now she was going to get a bad grade. And no one could help her because no one from her History class ever paid attention.

She was the only one who cared about grades.

She used to share that class with Danielle, but even her best friend didn't really care about school.

She just got good grades sometimes because her mom would ground her if she got less that a C. Which was a horrible grade in Gwen's opinion.

But that never stopped them from being best friends.

Even though they had a lot of differences, they had a lot in common too.

When the bell rang, almost all of the people from class got up, ready to leave for their second class.

"The bell does not dismiss you, I do. I say when the lesson finishes" the teacher reminded, making the whole class groan at the same time.

"But Mr. Willson, you already finished teaching today's class" Steven, one of the popular jerks from school, said "If there is something more you want to say, could you please hurry up?"

"And why, pray tell, are you in such a hurry, mister?"

Steven rolled his eyes and sat again on his chair.

"Because our teacher of the next class will be waiting for us. And if we get there late, she will punish us"

"Not to worry, if you don't arrive in time to your next class, I will be the one informing the teacher"

Steven sighed and got up again, and this time he walked to Mr. Willson. He leaned on the teacher's table before talking again.

"Okay then, and when does the lesson finish, huh?"

"When I say so. Now please return to your seat "

"Or else what? You're going to send me to detention?"

"Indeed, with that attitude, that is exactly where you are going, sir " Mr. Willson said, still in a calm tone. It was hard to make that teacher angry.

"Steven, come on, dude!" his best friend, another one of the popular jerks, complained as he stood up "Stop acting like such a jerk!"

"You're the one who's acting like a jerk!"

"No, you are!" his 'best friend' shouted angrily as he went where Steven was.

"No, you are!"

"No, you are!"

"Why don't you figure out who is the one acting like a jerk in detention?" Mr. Willson interrupted their fight before it could turn out neverending.

"He started!" both of the jerks shouted at the same time, while pointing at eachother.

"Both of you! Detention, now!" the teacher practically shouted, finally losing his patience.

Both of the boys sighed and headed to the door, dragging their feet out of the classroom.
