Gwen walked through the school hallways.
She had just gotten braces a week ago, and to be honest, it was really uncomfortable.
Putting them on hurt more than she thought it would, but it had to be worth it, right?
She had chosen them to be purple, since it was her favorite color.
She was now on her way to her History class.
It had been a few days since her History teacher started missing classes, and no one knew why, which just made everyone create theories.
Soon, everyone at school was talking about the History teacher and what could've happened to him.
Students came up with the craziest stories, like that an UFO took him to another planet, or that a murderer killed him and hid his body.
But the most likely thing that could've happened, in Gwen's opinion, was that he retired, since he was kind of old to be a teacher.
Everyone was disappointed to hear the actual reason when the principal told them.
Gwen was right, he had just retired.
When she arrived to her History class, she sat down on the same chair on the back where she always sat.
They didn't do anything today in class, since there was no substitute teacher yet.
Gwen looked at her watch, there were 2 more minutes for the class to end.
2 more minutes for recess.
She sighed as she thought about what a boring day today would be, just like every day.
But it wasn't.
Today was a different day.
She saw Sasha kind of sad, sitting on the other side of the class.
Since no one was in their seat, Gwen stood up and went where her cousin was.
"Hey, Sash, what's up?" the girl asked.
"Nothing really. Bored, I guess" she replied, not looking up.
"Are you sure? You seem sad"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about it"
Gwen decided to change the topic, since Sasha seemed to not want to talk about it.
"Did you see Brooke when you went to Italy?" she asked.
Brooke was Sasha's best friend, who had moved to Italy years ago, since her family was Italian.
Sasha shaked her head, but she seemed suspicious.
She was definitely hiding something.
"Do you still keep in touch with her?" Gwen asked, curious.
Sasha shaked her head again.
Just then, the bell rang.
Everyone got up quickly and ran outside, towards the cafeteria.
Unlike everyone, Gwen remained seated.
Maybe she could stay in class today, since the annoying girl from the library would probably still be there, and there was no one in class.
"Gwen?"
Nevermind.
"What are you still doing here?" Sasha asked as she walked in the class.
"Nothing, just... I was just taking my things" the other girl quickly made up an excuse as she stood up. "What are you doing here?"
