And again, Gwen had to go to school without her best friend.

Even though Danielle had already woken up, the nurse didn't let her leave the hospital until she was better.

Dr. Cooper said she needed to spend at least two more months in the hospital, trying to get better and taking pills.

The girl planned on visiting Danielle every week, although she wanted to visit her every day, but the nurse advised her not to.

She said it was better this way, so Danielle could spend some time alone and had time to do some tests.

Honestly, Gwen didn't think her best friend would remember her.

As much as she hated to admit it.

She knew there was a very small chance she would remember anything about her, so she might as well not get very excited.

Although, as the nurse said, she didn't lose anything by trying.

Gwen slowly walked through the school corridors, avoiding every single person she saw, scared that they would make her feel bad, just like it happened all the time.

It was lunch time, which meant that after eating in the cafeteria, everyone was everywhere. Except for the corridors. That's why she always walked through them while everyone else was having fun.

Which in her opinion, was not exactly having fun, because not everyone was.

She always saw left out people, who were sad and didn't receive attention.

Gwen didn't hate attention, she just felt like lately, people treated her like she hated it.

She just hated that people always talked about her and stared at her too much.

She didn't want that.

She just wanted to feel appreciated.

Everyone wants to feel appreciated.

Lost in her thoughts, she didn't realize she was walking straight into someone. She only realized when she bumped into them, making their things fall.

When she looked up to see who she bumped into, her eyes widened.

"Sasha?"

Sasha was her cousin, who was a year younger. She had gone on vacation to Italy for a month, but she didn't reply to any of Gwen's texts or calls, and she was worried about her.

They went to the same high school, but Gwen didn't know what happened to her during that month while she was gone.

They got along pretty well, you could say her cousin was her only friend in school apart from Danielle.

"Gwen, it's nice to see you!" she shouted excitedly, throwing her arms around her cousin.

"Hey! Why didn't you answer my texts or calls?" the other girl asked, after breaking their hug "I was beginning to worry about you"

"It doesn't matter" she said, slightly shaking her head "What does matter though, is that I'm here. I was going to come at the beginning of the day, but there were some last minute changes and I had to come at lunch time. Talking about lunch time, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in the cafeteria, eating?"

"I already ate. I'm fast. So, I decided to walk through the corridors, I don't know"

"Oh, okay"

Sasha smiled, and the other girl returned the gesture, nodding.

"Are you okay?" Gwen asked, a little worried when she saw her cousin's face. She didn't look like she was doing really fine.

"Yeah, I'm good. Amazing, actually" she said, but the other girl knew she wasn't exactly telling the truth. She knew her well enough to know when she lied. But she decided to ignore the topic anyway, Sasha wasn't going to tell her what was wrong as much as she asked. "Are you okay? I heard what happened. I'm really sorry"

"Yeah, I'm doing fine. Dani's getting better, the doctor said she could be able to leave the hospital in two months, or so"

"I'm happy for you"

They both smiled at each other again. But Gwen's brows were slightly furrowed, she was a little bit worried about her cousin.

Even though she didn't want to waste her time, she decided she was going to figure out what was wrong with Sasha.

"Gwen?"

"Uh, huh?" the girl looked up at her cousin, snapping herself out of her thoughts.

"Can you do me a favor?" Gwen nodded. "Could you, please..." when she saw her cousin wasn't understanding, she shook her head in an attempt to forget what she was about to say. "Uh... nothing. Forget it"

"What were you going to say? It's fine, you can tell me"

"It's stupid. I don't know what I was thinking"

"Oh, uh... okay, then. It's fine"

"I better get going, my bestie is waiting for me in the cafeteria. I'll see you around, yeah?"

"Sure. Bye!"

Sasha waved at her cousin as she quickly walked to the cafeteria.

Gwen watched as she disappeared through the corridors.

Just then, she gasped as she heard something from the other side of the corridor.

There was someone else.

She approached where the sound came from, walking slowly.

She gasped when she saw the cleaning lady.

Of course, what was she thinking?

There is always someone cleaning in the corridors.

She probably didn't expect it because she was talking with Sasha and forgot there was someone else.

"Hello, miss. What are you doing here?" the woman asked with a soft smile.

"I was just... walking around, looking for someone" Gwen had to lie, she didn't want to tell the woman that she just didn't have any friends and that she didn't like when people stared at her.

"Oh, okay. Tell me if you need anything, I'll be cleaning over here"

"Of course, thank you" the teenager said as she walked away.

Just then, someone else appeared from behind one of the corridors.

Her math teacher.

Great, now more people knew that she was there.

"Hello, Gwen, what are you doing here, dear?"

"Oh, nothing, just looking for someone"

"Okay, I will see you in the next period" the woman said with a genuine smile as she walked away.

Was anyone else going to come?

Now, everyone knew where she was, and she had to look for another place to hide from people.

She slowly walked out, crossing her fingers to not see anyone else on her way.

She decided to go to the library, there was a very small chance that she would see anyone there.

She didn't know anyone that liked reading, except for Danielle.

But, luck was not on her side today.

The library's door wasn't opening, as much as she tried.

Of course, today was Tuesday. The only day of the week when the library was closed.

What was she even thinking?

Thankfully, the bell rang.

Finally, lunch time was over and she could head to class.
