On paper, this study date had seemed like a good idea. Jiwoong had material to prepare for the very first class he would teach alone, as soon as school would be back in session. He'd talked of trouble at home, and said he couldn’t quite focus there. Jiyeon had barely been writing these past few days, and she needed to catch up on all the time she'd lost. What better way to spend time together, than work in the same room, in the comfort of each other's presence? It was with those pure, perhaps naive intentions that Jiyeon had invited her boyfriend over, so they could both work on their respective duties.
Well, as it turned out, it was a lot harder to concentrate than she could have ever expected. Jiwoong was in her bedroom. This hadn’t happened, like, ever. While he was sitting at her desk, and she was lying down in her bed, her laptop propped up on her thighs, she just couldn’t help but sneak glances his way. He looked far too handsome for her mind to stay focus, thin-rimmed glasses sitting low on his nose, the end of a pencil toying at his lips, the sleeves of his shirt rolled up slightly. It also didn't help that she was in the middle of writing a romantic scene, and she had the most beautiful man sitting right in front of her. How could her thoughts not run wild?
She'd made sure to be as discreet as possible with her observation, but when he stretched his neck from side to side, letting out a groan of relief, Jiyeon couldn’t quite get herself to take her eyes off of him long enough. The curve of his nape, milky white and perfectly sloped, seemed like it would be so soft to the touch. Sure, they had kissed plenty of times the day of her confession, but since then... Well, her lips were getting a little lonely. Having him here was like putting a piece of candy in front of a child, and insisting they do no eat it.
In her lack of carefulness, or rather, her shameless ogling, she did not notice quick enough when Jiwoong turned his head towards her. Their eyes met, and her soul jumped out of her body, as she snapped her head back towards her computer. He'd noticed her staring, hadn’t he? Oh, goodness. She must have looked like a total idiot.
"Hmm," Jiwoong started as he pushed his chair away from the desk, his voice guiltily innocent, "I should take a break. My eyes are strained."
Feeling the warmth on her cheeks, Jiyeon pretended she had not heard him, her eyes glued to the glaringly white screen of her laptop. Wow, she had barely written twenty words. Talk about distraction. And even now, she found herself unable to stop her gaze from wandering to Jiwoong, who had since turned his chair away. Shamelessly, unlike she had done just minutes before, he stared at her, a slight grin on his face. Though she tried to ignore the weight of his eyes, her heart beating in her fingertips was making it very hard to type anything.
"What are you doing?" she finally squeaked out, her voice sounding like it hadn’t been used in years.
The sweetest chuckle escaped his lips, as he leaned back in her chair. "I'm healing."
Ack. Jiwoong was way too good at this whole flirting thing. Here she was, floundering like a fish out of water, while two simple words from him sufficed to send a shocking current of electricity through her entire body. Would she ever get used to it? Somehow, she felt even more flustered than the first time they'd dated...
"How's it going with Leap in Destiny?" he asked curiously, resting his cheek on his fist.
"Well, um... I haven't gotten much writing done. Let's just say I've been struggling to focus lately."
His lips stretched into a feline smile. "Oh, really? And why might that be?"
"I think you of all people should know..."
At that, he burst into laughter, a sound so pure and cheerful Jiyeon's eyes were forcefully ripped from her screen. It wasn't always that she could see this side of Jiwoong — a lot of the time, his face was akin to that of a marble statue, timeless and unmoving and beautiful in an untouchable way. But in these small moments, where his humanity shone through his handsome looks, she couldn’t help but find him... Adorable. If she dared say that out loud, she was sure he would tease her endlessly.
