POV Sonic
I had to wake up early today, job applications. No one seemed to be awake, I mean, it was 7:00 in the morning but damn. Are mom and dad even here? I walked upstairs to their room, opened their door slightly, yep, they're here, sleeping in like Manic and Sonia. I sighed and puffed my cheeks, I am absolutely terrified of these job applications. I want to make a good impression but I'm too fidgety! Shit. If I'm this scared for applying, I can't even imagine how scared I'll be for an interview! If I even get one!
...
"I don't mind, I felt really pensive tonight."
...
"It's not a big deal."
...
Shadow's words from yesterday flew by my mind, I want to ask him what he meant, I want to know what he thinks but I don't wanna be annoying. I scratched the back of my neck as I stood halfway down the stairs."Are you talking to yourself again? I should really talk mom into getting you a therapist."
A familiar voice nagged from behind me, Manic.
"HA! HA! You are SO fucking funny!" I joked as I jumped down to the floor and turned to face him. I crossed my arms while I tapped my foot.
"Yeah I get that a lot. Anyway, why are you even awake, you're usually the last one up." He walked down the stairs and leaned against the railing. "I'm applying for jobs." He yawned and sighed. "Right. How's it going?" He raised a brow and crossed his arms. "Growing up is so stressful sometimes." I groaned and pressed my fingertips against my forehead.
"I saw you walking with a guy some time ago, he a new friend?" Manic thankfully changed the subject. "Yeah, his name is Shadow. He's really mysterious. Knux had me talk to him for 50 bucks, but I genuinely like talking to him. It's refreshing talking to someone so down-to-earth." I jumped slightly and chuckled. "Better get going! C'ya!" He nodded and yawned again as he walked to the kitchen pantry to get some chips. "Ight, good luck bro." I nodded and smiled as I waved bye.
I began running to my first option of jobs, a video game store. They have a good pay and I like video games, so it seems like a good match for me. Once I arrived I walked in and relaxed my breathing.
"Hello?" I walked to the desk where an employee around my age was helping out a customer, I read his name tag as he turned around and walked up to me.
Jet?Wait, he goes to my school, I think I've seen him once or twice in the cafeteria. Maybe he can help me put with this job.
"What? Oh wait...I know you...the soccer player." He said, I nodded slightly while I pressed my lips together awkwardly. "Okay.? So do you need any help??" He squinted his eyes to where it was obvious he was giving me a look of judgment and I didn't really like his tone of voice but right now, I'm in no place to say shit.
"Yeah, was wondering if you can call up your manager so I can ask for an application." I crossed my arms and sighed. "You? Work here? We're managing well enough with me here." He looked me up and down and crossed his arms, throwing them on top of the glass counter containing new games on sale and controllers. "Geez you don't have to be so rude." I cocked my head and rubbed the back of my neck.
"Is there a problem here?" The manager, Honey, a cat, walked behind the counter as she looked at me and Jet. "Nah, he just had a question for you." Honey rolled her eyes with a smile. "I wish this was a fashion store, employees would've been carefully chosen!" She mumbled with a clearly dramatic smile. "Anyway, how can I help you?" This time she smiled genuinely, at least I thought she was. "I came here to apply for a job. I could do anything." I shrugged but also smiled with a chuckle. She squinted her eyes and scratched her chin.
